HP Touchsmart 15

i3-3130M 2.60GHz x 4

5GB (4+1) RAM at 667-800mhz

SAMSUNG SATA 750GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache

Half-Life 2 Lost Coast, Video Stress Test. Fresh Windows 10 install with latest Intel drivers. Fresh Ubuntu 15.10 install. I benchmarked on every setting / resolution / external monitor / RAM combination possible. Results are based on settings that gave the highest numbers in Windows, which are not necessarily the lowest graphics settings.

Note: I realize that I am limiting the RAM speed to 667mhz by combining a 4GB 800mhz stick with a 1GB 667mhz; therefore, I ran the tests with and without the 667mhz stick. Saw improvement with the +1.

Ubuntu highest FPS = 95.88

Win10 highest FPS = 128.44

Under Windows game uses a Direct3D API, while on Linux rendering done via OpenGL. Intel do not provide a customized binary OpenGL library, like AMD or NVIDIA with their Linux drivers, it uses MESA3D universal library, and, as usual, universality comes at cost of performance.

Well, open-source NVIDIA and AMD drivers also depend on MESA, so all is fair. Actually, performance difference between MESA and proprietary drivers is greatly reduced, some years ago is was only 40-50% of http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel_hd3000_winbuntu http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel_hd3000_winbuntu

yeah, on csgo native linux version it's now possible to run at stable 60fps on latest mesa on dust2, 60-100fps on windows.

Cities Skyline is around the same 20-30fps (or better on linux if rendering lots of trees on camera view)

can't force override OpenGL 3.3 tho for Minecraft tho so shader fails to compile under linux.

Makes me want to rig it with an external card dock and get a decent video card. It would hook up to the mini pci slot where the wifi card is, but that's a small sacrifice. Besides, USB wifi thingies cost nothing,

that pe4h thingy... cost $70.

not sure if pe4h or 2133mhz ram.

intel hd 4000 barely heats up on modern game these days, like in GTA V the clock speed are around 600mhz and BF4 it's also around 600mhz-1000mhz. I'm not sure what's bottlenecking it other than cpu or ram speed.

because someone from intel community told me he can now run gta v at 720p smoothly in his i7 with 2133mhz (1066.5mhz) ram (his problem was because of bad ram, not intel hd problem)
