Intel GMA HD drivers for Windows 10

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and is there a Windows 10 driver for Intel GMA HD or Intel HD graphics? I have the first gen Intel i5-460m. Just need to know what drivers should I get for my notebook. If there isn't an exact one for this video card is there one that will work fine with the first gen Intel HD graphics or GMA HD? I had originally Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on this notebook. Thank you

Your processor and graphics are not supported on Windows 10:

Well so does that mean I can't ever use Windows 10 on this notebook? I have the HP ProBook 6550b. Or are there other drivers that can take place this one that would work? Thank you

Windows 10 is not supported on your notebook. However, it does not mean that it will not run. As for the graphics driver, you will be using the generic Microsoft driver.

I was originally going to ask that do I have to forever use Windows 7 and would that be ok even 10 years down the road? If not how would I get the generic drivers for this video card? Or is it ok to keep using Windows 7 forever? Thanks

If you want to use Windows 10, you will use the Microsoft generic graphics driver (for as long as Microsoft decides to allow Windows 10 to run on your notebook).

If you want to use Windows 7, you are supported to 2020. So, you have just over 3 years of support remaining. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet

Your processor is already more than six years old. You may want to consider getting a newer notebook that is supported on Windows 10.

Well I live off state money and this notebook was really expensive and it's really fast compared to any $250 notebooks out there today so if I can I want to keep it also there's nothing wrong with it. I' am tech savy so I can replace the motherboard if something goes wrong or so but I really like this. I tried a notebook that was around $200-$250 and they were slower even they have the Intel Celeron N3050 or N3060 which is a lot newer but it's slower. I can't afford another nice one like this one I was lucky to get this as a gift. It was $800 back in 2011. I got the later version of the i5 first gen so it's faster and up to 2.8gHz.

But ether way I can't use Windows 7 after 2020? Is there anyway to get by this? If not then I guess have to use what Windows 10 drivers has right?

You can use Windows 7 after 2020, just like there are still XP users after 2014. It is just that it will no longer be supported. You will no longer see updates, fixes, improvements, etc. Some new applications may decide to not update or install. Some anti-virus products may not run or be updated. Some online financial sites may decide to not support IE 11/WIndows 7.

If you have installed Windows 10, and it is working ok for you with the generic Microsoft graphics driver (and you are not a gamer), then continue using Windows 10. However, do not be surprised if an upgrade to Windows 10 in the future does not install.

Well I' am a gamer but I play low demanding ones like WoW, The Sims 4, StarCraft 2, Guild Wars 2, EverQuest II, etc and they all work great on this notebook on Windows 7 but I don't know on Windows 10 yet. But if I have to upgrade to Windows 10 then I might just have to keep it but I can downgrade anytime back to Windows 7. Do you think I should keep using what I been always using which is Windows 7? Or do I need to use Windows 10? Thank you

If you are happy with Windows 7, then stay with Windows 7.

Well if Windows 10 drivers and everything will work fine then I should use Windows 10 since it has a lot more features and more games like Windows games. But I don't know if this is a driver issue on video card but when I play Jurassic Park Builder on Facebook the screen flashes and items don't look right. It's really strange that the screen flashes and items don't appear right it's hard to describe and when I played this on Windows 7 this didn't happen. Both Edge and IE on Windows 10 has problems. Is Windows 10 having problems or is it my video driver? If it's the video driver can I use compatibility mode and install the latest one for my Intel HD card from Intel.com?

I can say other games work fine without problems so far just Jurassic Park Builder on Facebook. I haven't tried everday I have but so far like WoW, StarCraft 2, Guild Wars 2, EverQuest II, League of Legends and other older games like Quake 4 etc work fine.

The short answer is that none of your hardware is supported on Windows 10.

Nothing you can do will fix this, short of a new(er) notebook. If it were as easy as compatibility mode or a newer driver, we would not be having this discussion.
