I have Windows 8 and Intel HD 4000 graphics. The driver version is 9.17.10.2867. When I try to play a game in full screen it freezes my whole computer. Does anyone else have this problem? And is there a way to fix it?

I have the same problem. The lock-up occurs when playing most 3D games.
My system:
Win7 64 and Win 8 64
Shuttle SZ68R5 with latest BIOS 2.03
I7 3770
Trenscand DDR3 1333 8Gx4
Integrated HD 4000
Different driver versions are tested including the latest version 9.17.10.2875, the lock-up always happens in few minutes after launching any 3D game either in window mode or full-screen mode.
However, the issue seems to go away if only one memory module is installed (game runs for hours).
On the contrary, It is much easier to trigger the lock-up with 4 dimm slots populated (game and system freeze in few minutes).
All the memory modules pass the Mem86+ test and OCCT linpack (90% mem usage) test.
So it is not a faulty memory problem.

Hello
I've got the same problem.
New build
I5 3570k
ASUS P8Z77-V LX
2x4GB 1600
PSU Corsair 600W
win 7 64
I've updated Bios and all drivers and all games are freezing when using Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Also tested with external graphic card and it works like a charm.
Any updates on that.
Waiting for response

Fixed! Bios 1709 was just release for my P8Z77-V Deluxe mobo and it fixed the freeze issue with the new intel driver. Can play Call of Duty Black Ops 2 now!
FYI my system: Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe, i7 3770K, 16GB G.Skill @2133, 256GB SSD Samsung S830
Btw, does anyone know why Asus never adds detailed release notes for a bios update? Or do they? Not at the download page for sure.
Regards,
Thijs

Great news guys. It's nice to finally have a stable system isn't it. I'm not sure where you can find bios release notes. All it mentioned for the 1408 maximus bios was support for new processors and system stability improvements.
Happy gaming

Hi Andrey, I'm betting that it is likely still your bios that needs updating. Your current bios, 1404, was released just over three weeks ago. Most of us asus mobo owners have seen our problems fixed with bios versions that have been released in the last five days or so. Sit tight man and hopefully an updated one will turn up for your motherboard.

Everything works yet don't touch memory settings. As soon as you change frequency of memory from "Auto" (even if thus frequency doesn't change) FREEZE comes!!! Return to "Auto" doesn't help.

Hi Abhijit
1) Dump the BIOS settings by CLRTC jumper.
2) Reupdate BIOS 1404 through EZ Flash 2.
3) Redump the BIOS settings by CLRTC jumper.
5) If it is required, change "DRAM Voltage".
6) Check problem existence... if all ok, save "ASUS O.C. Profile" and go further...
7) Configure the BIOS settings (WITHOUT TOUCHING "memory frequency").
6)Check problem existence... If ok, save profile...
😎 Try to change "memory frequency".
9) Check problem existence... if have it, load the kept profile.
Write ASUS and we wait new BIOS...

Thanks Andrey,
I have cleared BIOS settings(CLRTC) and re-installed BIOS 1404 using EZ Flash 2.
Graphics seems to be working (tested a game for few minutes).
PassMark is able to complete 3D graphics test.

Hi Abhijit
Change "memory frequency" leads to stability loss?

Freeze issue was resolved with reset and re-install of BIOS 1404 however issue came back when system was restarted(auto tuning of settings).
Clearing settings again and re-install of BIOS fixed it.
I haven't changed memory settings. Not able to figure out correct manual settings.

Andrey! You Sir are a Genious, Thank You!
I just built a P8Z77-V LK and was trying Kinston 1600 memory (KHX1600C9D3K2) which required to increase the voltage to 1.65. After reading that perhaps it may be dangerous to run other than 1.5V I switched it back to 1.5 and auto.
I had the latest BIOS 0904 installed as well as of Nov 24, 2012.
The system was running fine until I decided to test the 3D capabilities of the HD4000 chip.
After running unigine it crashed immediately when the dragon was at around 15% loaded. Each time a complete system freeze. Quite shocking actually. I was quite concerned but after reading your post and knowing I had previously played with the memory speed I thought maybe it was related. I just reflashed the bios again with the same lastest one and this time touched nothing and it worked perfectly.
So thanks again, and hopefully your post will help intel/asus whomever resolve what is causing it to crash so badly.

I am not able to change DRAM frequency or voltage.
I changed settings to manual and updated frequency and voltage. It resets after system is restarted.
Even after cancel of OC Tuner it updates automatically.
Please assist.

+, P8Z77-V LX, 3570K all up to date.
Maybe power plan some way affecting.
Performance and balance - instant freeze.
Power saver - freezes seems rare
dxdiag, if need.

Actually, try the following.
Boot computer into Windows. Open AI Suite II. Set GPU to anything other than the default (I set it to 1450). Play.
It seems to work, but has to be re-done on each boot. (You also might need the old drivers, not the new ones.)
