@Michael Jarmey: You can now find a Windows 8 compatible driver for Intel HD Graphics 1000 - first gen hardware on the http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=intel%20hd%20graphics%208.15.10.2858 Microsoft Update Catalog site. The driver available there is version 8.15.10.2858 dated 10/9/2012 but requires the final (NOT beta or RC) release of Windows 8. Somewhat overdue for Microsoft with Intel's cooperation to finally release a Win8 driver for 1st gen intel hd grahics devices.
