Hi,
My laptop Acer Aspire P3 171 64-bit windows 10 got a problem on intel hd graphics 4000, brightness can not be adjusted. I already had the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver version 10.18.10.4276 installed and I have edited the registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000] "FeatureTestControl"= and change the value data to f008, but the problem still persists. Is there any registry value that I should edit to fix this problem?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi LeoMS,
Intel recommends to use default settings. I recommend you to uninstall and delete current driver and run Windows® 10 update. It will install the best driver for your computer.
The current driver at Acer® website is older.

Hi LeoMS,
Could you please tell me more about the issue? Intel® HD graphics control panel provides with the options to change the Brightness.
From HD graphics control panel, select Display , Color and there are Basic and Advanced options available.

Hello Mike,
This is what happened. After I upgraded my windows 8.1 to windows 10 the brightness cannot be adjusted. The driver changes to Microsoft Basic Display Driver. And Intel HD Graphics 4000 on Device Manager marked yellow. So I can not change the Brightness, sleep mode, hibernate mode etc..

Same problem on a Lenovo S300..
For regain brightness control, manually (force) select driver = Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
Don't know if there are any drawbacks.. Other fora suggest this.

Hi LeoMS, SteenBN-CPH,
Are you trying to install the driver available in our website or from your laptop manufacturer website? Please try with their driver instead of us.
The link to download the results of SSU failed. Please paste it on the tread.

Hi SteenBN-CPH,
I have uninstalled the driver I downloaded from the laptop manufacturer website because their driver older than the one intel has. But the current driver is installed by the windows 10. I have also sent you the SSU result by mail if this one still can not be opened.

Hi LeoMS,
I was able to review the results of SSU; everything looks good. It seems to be an odd case with your laptop. I suggest to try with you computer manufacturer driver. Manufacturers customize our drivers according to their pc settings. If problem continues, get in touch with Acer and request for maintenance.
