I have an ntel i3-6300 with HD graphics 530 connected to a Viewsonic VP2770-LED monitor. I can't achieve 2560x1440 resolution. I have a dual link DVI cable that came with the monitor. The resolution 2560x1440 does not appear in the Intel Graphics Settings choices. If I try to add it as a custom resolution (at 60 Hz) I get an error: "The custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". What can I do to get 2560x1440x60?
Here is my system information:

Hello BirdOfChaos:
Thank you very much for providing that report.
In regard to your question, I just wanted to confirm the following information, you mentioned you are using dual link DVI cable, but on the graphics report it says it is HDMI, so I just wanted to confirm which is the one currently being used?
Also, were you able to use this same resolution before?
What is the model of the motherboard?
Any further questions, please let me know.
Regards
Alberto

Hello Alberto,
Thanks for your answer. I noticed the same thing as you did. I am using the DVI port but it shows as HDMI in the report. I'm using the Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H motherboard. I never got it to work at that resolution, but the same screen and same cable reach 2560x1440@60 without any problem with an HP Z820 workstation with an NVidia quadro card. So the screen and the cable should be ok. There is a video driver on Gigayte's site but it seems to be coming straight from Intel. It's a slightly older version 21.20.16.4541. In any case, I can't reach 2560x1440 with it either.
I just found on Gigabyte's site that the DVI resolution is limited to 1900x1200@60. Apparently I need to use the HDMI port with a high speed HDMI cable. I will try that. From http://ca.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-B150M-D3H-rev-10# sp GA-B150M-D3H (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Motherboard , Graphics Card , Laptop ,Tablet , Mini-PC , Server , PC Peripherals … :
Integrated Graphics Processor-Intel® HD Graphics support:
1 x D-Sub port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
* The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.
1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24 Hz
* Support for HDMI 1.4 version.
Support for up to 3 displays at the same time
Maximum shared memory of 1024 MB

Hello Alberto,
Unfortunately I was not able to get to a higher resolution by connecting to the HDMI port directly.

Hello BirdOfChaos:
You are welcome.
I just received some updates in regard to the investigation we are doing on this matter.
According to Gigabyte's web site, the latest BIOS version is F21, is that the BIOS version currently installed on the board?
http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-B150M-D3H-rev-10# support-dl http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-B150M-D3H-rev-10# support-dl
Also, another option will be to get in contact with the manufacturer of the monitor to check if there is a firmware update available for you to install it.
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/productresources/view/key/vp2770-led.html http://www.viewsonic.com/us/productresources/view/key/vp2770-led.html
Did you get in contact with Gigabyte directly about this issue?
I checked the specifications of the monitor and according to that information only if you use the DVI/Display port you will be able to get 2560x1440, but according the the board specifications if you use the DVI port the highest resolution will be 1920x1200@60 Hz. So, it seems to be there is a limitation on the resolutions.
Look for VP2770-LED User Guide (English) on the link above.
As an option you can try to use an active adapter from HDMI to display port in order to try to get the resolution that you need.
Any questions, please let me know.
