Hello,
I’m looking for a solution to a very annoying and persistent issue affecting many laptops with Intel i5-1135G7 CPUs and integrated Iris Xe graphics (Gen12 LP).
The issue:
Random crashes during GPU-heavy applications (Nintendo Switch emulator Suyu, 3D software, games, or even browsers with hardware acceleration enabled).
Graphical artifacts: lines, distortions — especially around loading icons like YouTube's spinning wheel.
LiveKernelEvent 141 reported in Windows reliability monitor (igdkmdn64.sys involved).
After the crash, the display starts flickering until I restart the system.
What I’ve already done:
✅ Memory fully tested with MemTest86 — no errors.
✅ Tried both OEM drivers from Asus and latest Intel DCH drivers — same issue on all versions.
✅ Switched between Vulkan, OpenGL, Direct3D11 in multiple applications — the problem persists (only OpenGL is slightly more stable).
✅ Disabled hardware acceleration in Opera GX — the issue disappears.
✅ Tested with Google Chrome — works fine, no artifacts.

Hi Ciaramid06,
Thank you for posting in the communities!
I appreciate you sharing and gathering your findings regarding to the random crashes on your system.
To better assist you and determine the most appropriate resolution, could you please provide the needed details listed below:
- Since you stated you're using Nintendo Switch emulator Suyu, may I know if you're a developer or and end user?
- Do you have a specific game or application that's experiencing these crashes?
- What is the exact make and model of your laptop?
- Since you stated that even using the OEM drivers, the issue still persists, have you already contacting your OEM about the issue?
Best regards,
Earl E.

Thank you for your reply.
I am an end user, not a developer.
The crash happens with multiple applications, but I initially noticed it using the Nintendo Switch emulator Suyu — although the issue also appeared with other GPU-intensive software and even during web browsing when hardware acceleration was enabled (for example, in Opera GX browser).
My laptop model is:
ASUS F515EA / X515EA
equipped with an Intel i5-1135G7 CPU and integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics.
Yes, I have already contacted my OEM (ASUS Support) in the past, and their only suggested solution was reinstalling their OEM version of the Intel driver. Unfortunately, the problem persists even with both OEM drivers and Intel generic drivers.
The system consistently reports:
LiveKernelEvent 141 (igdkmdn64.sys)
Followed by screen flickering until restart.
I’ve already tested:
Memory (MemTest86) — no errors.
Different driver versions, including both OEM-provided and Intel DCH drivers.
Disabling hardware acceleration in some apps prevents the crashes, but this is not a real solution.
I saw it seems to be a common problem among other users who own laptops with the same Intel i5-1135G7 CPU + Intel Iris Xe Graphics GPU, from different brands (ASUS, HP, Dell, Lenovo) at least I saw in different forums that they had the same problem as me (like screen flicker or artifacts or lines) after heavy loads like games or other applications
I hope this extra information can help to investigate further or escalate the case.
Thanks again for your support!

Hi Ciaramid06,
Thank you for sharing this additional information with us.
I'll take note on this and will further investigate the cause of the issue internally.
Kindly run this on your system so that I can also gauge the following peripherals and the driver versions that you have:
Intel® System Support Utility for Windows*
Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan (leave the default items checked), click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide us the .txt file.
Best regards,
Earl E.

Hello Ciaramid06,
I appreciate you sharing the SSU logs.
I have a few more additional questions for me to further isolate the issue.
- Have you attempted to access your laptop's BIOS? Does the BIOS also have the flickering problem?
- Have you attempted to use an external monitor to see if the flickering problem still exists there?
Best regards,
Earl E.

no in the bios I have not seen flickering or anything but it happens on windows especially with heavier activities and unfortunately it is random and apparently it has not happened with a second monitor but I should do other checks to confirm it because sometimes the crash occurs and then the flickering, while on opera GX the images have lines or artifacts for a while then on youtube videos the wheel and the hud of the 10 seconds forward and back go to make a frame of white lines. I uploaded the image of a video on youtube in full screen if you can see the lines it creates, this one on opera gx only does it with hardware acceleration active in which the browser uses the GPU
