I have an P965 motherboard with the Intel raid controller, I have been running a RAID 5 with 2TB x 4(total 5.45TB).
We know that ICH8R Only support 2T,but now i use Intel Matrix Storage Console v8.8 in server 2008sp2 with gpt table build one 5.45T volume, this volume can't be recognize when boot screen show by raid bios, but can be recognize and be used by system.
Does it has no problem?
The other question is when i use a newer motherboard(P55 for example) in anytime in future,Will the data be lost or be not recognize?

The onboard RAID controller has a limitation of 2TB per volume; this means you cannot create your RAID 5 with 5TB volume size.
If you upgrade your computer for a newer chipset, all you need to do is make sure the new computer supports the same type of RAID you have created. That is it.
