Intel graphics 4600 experiences black screen after windows logo

Hi,

I'm using the latest drivers for the device - 10.18.14.4332.

The computer boots ok until Windows logo is shown, then the screen is getting black.

I know that the system runs ok because I can connect to it using remote desktop.

I also know that the monitor gets a signal (probably black or bad), as if it wasn't getting a signal it would start flipping analog / digital inputs looking for a signal.

When uninstalling the Intel's driver (and using windows default driver) display is back to normal, but no acceleration exists so videos look awful, therefore this is unacceptable.

I can run safe mode and switch to FHD resolution, and it runs ok. So everything which is HW is probably good.

Motherboard - Gigabyte H87, Windows 7 SP1 desktop, connecting to the monitor with a DVI cable (which is obviously ok, see previous line).

Please assist. This is a 2.5 y/o machine, I expect such issues not to exist in such a mature HW.

Thanks

Hello, Ofir:

Could you please let us know your processor model?

Please try to update the BIOS version and the install the Intel VGA Driver from http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4491# driver GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-H87-D3H (rev. 1.x), I would also recommend to run the Windows Updates.

Regards,

Hi Amy,

Thank you for your message.

The processor is i5-4670 @ 3.40GHz, and I'm running the latest BIOS, version F10.

Windows is completely updated.

I tried the driver from the GIGABYTE website, and it acts exactly the same as in my original post here.

Please assist,

Ofir

When did the issue start?

What type of connections are you using?

I actually never used the Intel Graphics device before, I used Nvidia adapter until it recently died.

Now that I needed it, I noticed that it didn't have the correct driver (and therefore videos run extremely bad), so I tried the Intel drivers.

The adapter is connected to the monitor using DVI.

Thanks

At this stage you still get the black screen after Windows logo?

With Intel drivers - yes.

Without Intel drivers (MS generic VGA drivers) - no.

But I need Intel GPU drivers for video decompression.

I have been running some tests based on your description but I am not able to replicate the issue.

Let me run more tests, if you can add more details that would really help to narrow down the issue.

Hi Amy,

Please tell me which other info can help you, and I'll do my best to get it.

Also, if there's any way Windows 7 or the Intel drivers can dump a log of its execution, please tell me how and I'll do that.

Thanks,

Ofir
