Main display flickering after arc driver install

I recently finished my build and set everything up ( OS,drivers, bios, etc ) but I'm getting an issue with my main middle screen, it is constantly flickering on and off and I honestly don't know what's going on and how to fix it. I can't really don't anything on the main monitor making it useless until it's fixed. I never set up multiple displays ( 3 monitors ) before and I'm really confused. I know it's not the monitors themselves because I was using them a couple weeks ago working fine and all the power/ video cables I'm using a new so I know that's not the problem. I don't have other monitor or cables to test so that's out if questing. My a770 drivers are up to date same as OS, I tried using both windows and intel's display software but its all confusing and the monitor identify numbers are all different.

Can anyone help me set up my monitors in detailed steps and needed basic info for set up ? That would really be appreciated.

I appreciate your participation in our community.

I would like to ask you a few questions that can help us root-cause the issue.

  1. Is the flickering occurring if you connect only 1 display at a time?
  2. Is the flickering occurring if you are in the BIOS?.
  3. How are you connecting each monitor (example: HDMI, DP)? Do you have any display adapters/converters in your setup?
  4. What are the brand and model of your monitors?

I would recommend checking if the integrated graphics are enabled at BIOS level, and if so for testing purposes connect the flickering monitor directly to the motherboard and let us know the results.

Is the flickering occurring if you connect only 1 display at a time?
I can't answer this question because I bought a new 2.1 DP cable and for some reason the monitor is not being detected no matter what port I plug the the cable into on the gpu

Is the flickering occurring if you are in the BIOS? N/A

How are you connecting each monitor (example: HDMI, DP)? DP

Do you have any display adapters/converters in your setup?
No

What are the brand and model of your monitors? Samsung LC32G55TQWNXZA main middle monitor 2x Asus VG248QE left and right side monitor.

For some reason I can't get my main monitor to be detected at all with a newer 2.1 DP cable. I don't understand what's going on, shouldn't DP 2.1 be backwards compatible with DP 1.2 for the monitor and 2.0 for the gpu ? I was originally using a 1.4 DP cable and I thought that because it's 1.4 DP that was causing the flickering ?

This is the DP cable I'm using Cable Matters VESA Certified 40Gbps DisplayPort 2.1 Cable 2m/6.6ft, DP40 Cable 8K 120Hz, 4K 240Hz in Black https://a.co/d/2oxIST0

I Uninstalled the graphics driver with DDU then reinstalled the graphics driver to hopefully fix the problem but my main middle monitor is still not showing any display.

Edit: my dumba$$ forgot to plug in the dp cable in my main monitor 🙄 The monitor is now displaying properly with no flickering and being detected in Windows and Arc Control software. Now I just need to finish setting up the multi-display in windows.

Hello Dreadnaught,

I appreciate your reply and the information you provided. Regarding the DP cables, all new DP cables are supposed to be backward compatible with the existing DP source. Now, since you're facing a no-display issue I have some suggestions and questions. Please answer and do the following:

Test each DP port individually with one of the ASUS VG248QE monitors. This way, we can see if all the ports work.

If all DP ports work -> please check DP cable and potentially the monitor itself as this can indicate that the DP input is faulty.

According to the monitor's website at this link:

https://www.samsung.com/ca/monitors/gaming/wqhd-gaming-monitor-with-1000r-curved-screen-32-inch-lc32g55tqwnxza/

it has 1 x DP 1.2 input - can you switch this to DP 1.1 for testing purposes? This might be possible using the monitor's OSD (On-Screen Display) menu.

However, I noticed you mention it is now working, just to confirm, is the main middle monitor already showing a display? Are there other display issues that you are still encountering?

I tested one of my ASUS VG248QE monitors in all of the DP ports on my arc a770 and they all work fine.

I checked all the DP ports on my monitors and they are all in good condition.

I tested DP 1.1 on my samsung monitor and there's no flickering or display issues.

The main middle monitor is working with no flickering, I've only noticed it flickering when the Arc Control software is not running but stops after turning it on or when the driver is out of date and not current, which only happend recently updating from the previous driver to 31.0.101.5333
