The game won't open when I use the Vulkan API; it simply crashes. My specs are...

ASROCK INTEL ARC B580
GIGABYTE B550M DS3H ACR2
RAM Risemode 1x16gb

Hi Danxav,

Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum. To assist us in investigating the issue, please provide the following details:

  1. When did the issue start? Was it after a specific driver update or game patch? or from the very beginning it never ran?
  2. What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?
  3. Is the Resizable Bar enabled?
  4. Have you used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove all residual drivers and installed a new one?
  5. Which gaming platform did you use to download the game?
  6. What version of Minecraft Java Edition are you running?
  7. Does the crash happen immediately on launch, or at a specific point during loading?
  8. Does the game work normally when you switch to a different rendering API such as OpenGL or DirectX?
  9. Does the issue also occur with other Vulkan-based games or applications?

Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information, additionally kindly uncheck the networking field to avoid exposing your network information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here. Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best regards,

Try updating to the latest Intel Arc graphics driver first, as Vulkan crashes are often driver-related. If that doesn't help, do a clean driver reinstall with DDU, verify the game files, and make sure Windows and your chipset drivers are fully updated. Also test with overlays disabled. If DirectX works but Vulkan doesn't, it's likely a Vulkan-specific issue, so posting the game name and any crash logs will help others diagnose it.
