Hi all,
Looking for some help with a Miracast problem, which might (or might not) be related to Intel Arc graphics.
I have a two month old MSI Prestige 14 AI Evo laptop, model C1MG 0077UK. I can't get it to cast to a TV; it'll detect the TV, the TV and laptop both say 'connecting', but at the point you'd expect the screen share to start nothing happens, then a few seconds later the laptop says 'couldn't connect'.
I've tried a long list of solutions, including looking at hardware and driver issues using dxdiag, which says most Miracast features are OK but Miracast is not supported by the graphics driver.
The graphics are Intel Arc, and I've seen something on here which says Arc does not support Miracast and support isn't on the Arc roadmap; however I've also seen something else here that suggests Intel have stopped supporting MIracast because it now has native Microsoft support in Windows, so it isn't needed separately.
Can anyone tell me definitively whether a device with Arc graphics should be able to cast, assuming everything else is working correctly; and if not, whether there is a workaround?

- Have you been able to connect to Miracast successfully before?
- Aside from the troubleshooting already mentioned (such as checking hardware and driver details using dxdiag), what additional steps have you taken to try to resolve the issue?
For me to review the hardware and the installed driver, please help generate the SSU logs of your system.

Hello Patrick, thankyou.
I have generated an SSU log and attached it here (I've deleted MAC and IP addresses for privacy)
I have connected to the relevant TVs before using Miracast, but not with this laptop; I have not been able to cast with this one.
I seem to have tried most solutions referenced on Microsoft and other support sites:
- Checked that computer and TV are on the same network
- Checked that WiFi and Bluetooth are on
- Changed WiFi frequency 5 GHz > 2.4 GHz and back
- Checked Miracast support using dxdiag, and via Windows Settings > Connect to a Wireless Display
- Checked that wireless display is available in 'Optional Features'
- Checked that cast to device functionality is allowed in the firewall (Windows Defender) and tried with the firewall off
- Checked that network discovery is switched on, and tried with file sharing enabled and disabled
- Checked that I can connect to the TV hardwired using HDMI
- Checked that device drivers for networking and WiFi are up to date via Device Manager > Update Driver
- Allowed all devices under Setting > Media Streaming Options
- Disabled and uninstalled VPN (Proton)
- Disabled and uninstalled Norton 360 (trial that came with the laptop)
- Checked that Microsoft LLDP Protocol Driver is enabled in adaptor settings
- Removed wireless / connected devices and re-added them (several times!)
- Checked WDDM version (3.1)
- Checked NDIS version (6.89)
I made these tests from an administrator account, and restarted after settings changes.
It was suggested that the WiFi adaptor (Killer Wi-Fi 7 BE1750w 320MHz Wireless Network Adapter (BE200D2W)) might not support Miracast, but that does not seem to be the case.
The only suggested issue I have found so far is a 'Miracast: Not supported by graphics driver' reference in the dxdiag report, but as I say my understanding is Miracast is now natively supported in Windows 11 so I'm not sure whether that matters (or is correct)

Hello Patrick,
Could you explain further? What is the basis for thinking it is outside your scope?
If this falls outside your scope, can I assume it is not an Intel Arc graphics problem, and that I should expect Arc to support Miracast?
Or is it that a lack of Miracast support is due to Windows native capability, not Intel?
It would be very helpful to have answers to these and my original questions so I know what to pursue with Microsoft.

I am also facing similar issue with my Intel(R) Arc(TM) 140V GPU (16GB) graphics.
like you've checked, i have also checked in dxdiag and it says that "Miracast: Not Supported by Graphics driver"
I have literally done all the diagnostic checks (the same you have did above) prior to finding this info in dxdiag.
Were you able to find a fix for this issue? It would be really helpful for my work!

Hi. I didn't. I'm afraid, but to an extent that was because I haven't taken it further yet; I keep coming up against dead ends like this where I don't get a definitive answer.
I get the DXDiag response that Miracast is not supported, and my chipset is listed in the links above as not supporting Miracast; but on my previous laptop I was able to cast with a chipset that allegedly doesn't support it, and I have seen suggestions that Miracast support is now native within the Windows 11 OS, rather than chipset based.
It's disappointing that Intel support can't or won't answer this question, and I keep meaning to ask on the Microsoft forums but haven't done so yet.
