NUC M15 - How to activate num lock ?

Hello, stupid question here maybe, but I can get to use the num lock function on my NUC M15 (LAPBC710). I suppose I should activate it by pressing the Function key + the "num lock / scroll lock" button it does nothing.

Note that pressing the "num lock / scroll lock" button without any other key does activate scroll lock as expected.

Thank you

(Btw extremely sad that the NUC laptop will not be renewed, really love it)

Hello JustinBacle,

Thank you for clarifying this for me. I've found another set of steps we can try to see if they resolve the issue. These steps are somewhat similar to the first article I provided, but I want to explore all possible solutions to address this problem. Please follow the steps below to enable the number pad:

  1. Boot the system
  2. Press F2 during start to enter BIOS Setup.
  3. Select Advanced> Onboard Device.
  4. Set Integrated Numpad (Fn hotkey) option to Enable.
  5. Press F10 to save and exit, the NUC will auto reboot.

Toggle Integrated Numpad via Fn+Num after startup to Windows operating system. Then see if tthe issue will be resolve.

Hello JustinBacle,

Thank you for posting in the community regarding your concern with the num lock. I wanted to confirm whether pressing the Fn key and NumLock results in any LED light appearing on your laptop keyboard.

Additionally, you might want to try the following steps to see if they help resolve the issue: Cannot Enable NumLock on Intel Laptop

Hi Dhanniel,

Thank for your support.
There is no led on thekeyboard on the NUC M15, but using the windows on-screen keyboard, I can confirm that Fn + Numlock does nothing, while the other locks (Caps Lock,  Scroll lock) work fine.

Just saying, there are multiple laptop families that answer to 'NUC M15', so it's not a sufficient way to identify your laptop. You can use the full product id (LAPBC710) or you can generalize to the family code BC (Bishop County).

I have the LAPRC710, family RC (Rooks County), and pressing Fn+NUMLK lights up the LED built into the SCRLKL/NUCLK button.

Hope this helps,

Good remark, mine is indeed LAPBC710, and Fn + numlock does nothing.

Hello JustinBacle,

Thank you for letting me know, and I appreciate your suggestion for this thread, @n_scott_pearson. Given the situation, I wanted to check if you've followed the steps outlined in the public article I shared with you.

Additionally, I'm curious about your LAPBC710 laptop, as I recall it doesn't have a numpad, only the number keys at the top. Could you explain why you want the numlock LED to be on? For clarification, if the numlock LED is activated, it typically means the number keys at the top cannot be used.

Hey Dhanniel, unfortunately, the article you recommended does not relate to my product type.

As the keyboard has numbers on it, I'm supposed to be able to use them by using num lock, then using the numbers written on the keyboard (Keys, 7, 8, 9, U, I, O, J, K, L and ? on my Azerty layout keyboard), see picture.

It's definitely something that works on all other laptops I used before and is useful for excel and working with numbers in general.

Thank you, that works great. So weird it was not enabled by default. And there is even a small LED on activation now!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some number crushing to do.
