New driver issue - display settings not retained

Having recently installed the latest driver "Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*" (Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.6458/32.0.101.6257) I've encountered a problem.

Using the Intel® Graphics Command Center, I have the display settings setup the way I prefer.

With the latest driver, the settings are not retained. On every startup, or if I connect an external display to the laptop, the custom display settings effect disappears. Only the actual display results are affected, the controls retain their custom values. If I click to change the controls, the display returns to the correct custom settings.

Hello benshl,

Thank you for posting in our communities.

Please generate an SSU report to help me further analyze your system specifications and configurations. To generate the SSU report, please refer to the article: How to Get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows. Please send me the generated SSU.txt file.

To confirm, the issue is that we have is that every time you start up your system, the IGCC color or display settings go back to default instead of staying on the custom settings that you set. Is that correct? If my understanding is incorrect, kindly explain it to me in more detail.

Yes, the display settings go back to the default - but only the actual screen output - the control settings remain as I left them.

If I adjust the controls again, then the output changes accordingly.

Hi. Thank you for the response.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it work. The "Windows HD Color setting" is not available on my machine.

Disbabling Asus Optimization service did not work either.

I appreciate the help provided all the same.

Regards,

benshl

Hello benshl,

Thank you so much for patiently waiting on my update.

I've tried to simulate the issue in our case using the following software and hardware:

  • Graphics driver: 32.0.101.6460_101.6259 (Latest)
  • Intel Graphics Command Center version: 1.100.5688.0
  • Intel® NUC M15 Laptop Kit—LAPRC710 with Intel Iris Xe Graphics

Using the following scenarios that you have shared with me; I could not replicate the issue (see test results below).

1st Scenario—Per your verbatim: if I connect an external display to the laptop, the custom display settings effect disappears.

2nd Scenario—every startup, the custom display settings effect disappears.

For our next step, kindly update your graphics driver to the latest one, then uninstall and then install the latest Intel Graphics Command Center.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hi. Thank you for the assistance.

I have managed to solve the issue, it turns out to be the settings on the laptop the was causing this problem,

and not related to the graphics software.

I apologize for the bother.

benshel

The issue is experienced in Asus ROG laptops being in a visual mode called "Racing".

This mode causes the Intel graphics display setting problems. To fix it, press fn + v to switch between visual modes,

until you reach the "Default" mode.
