Hi everybody. I have a sony vaio Pro 13 with Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400 and windows 8.1. When connecting the laptop via HDMI to the TV i can see the video but not sounds. In the Audio settings i can clearly see an HDMI device but it's always NOT PLUGGED IN.
Anyone can help me?
I can all the driver audio and video update, and the only issue that i can notice is that is impossible for me to install the HD graphics 4400 driver version 15.x because my computer is "not suitable" . I have the version 10.18.10.3304- タグ:

Hi all,
I appreciate the information provided.
The Intel engineering department is aware of this thread and they are currently working to get this issue resolved. I still do not have an estimate time of resolution but you can keep checking this post for updates.

I just submitted a ticket to customer service (ticket number 8000849771) about this same problem. The customer service rep does not seem to be aware of the issue though.
When I was first trying to fix the problem, I thought it was a motherboard issue since I couldn't get HDMI audio to work at all. I actually had the motherboard replaced, but the problem persisted. When I installed the latest Intel driver, I noticed the audio worked but after restarting it stopped working and I can't seem to get it back.
I bought the processor for an HTPC to connect to my TV/Receiver. So until this is fixed, the PC is basically useless.

I played around with it last night. Updated the bios and chipset, uninstalled the Intel graphics stuff from add/remove programs and the realtek stuff, then re-installed. Seems to be working now.
I did notice that XBMC sounds way better through my receiver than itunes does. I guess the Intel drivers only allow 2 channel native output (XBMC converts it to 5.1 and itunes doesn't I guess). Would I need to get a separate card to get HDMI 5.1 sound?

Hi ss4johnny,
The function of the Intel® Graphics Controller is to make a handshake between the audio device and the HDMI. In the graphics driver we include a codec for the HDMI but the support for 2.1/5.1/7.1 audio depends on the capability of the motherboard but not the graphics controller

Kevin -
I wanted to add myself to the list of people that is experiencing this issue. I have a the same Gigabyte B85M-D3H motherboard in my HTPC. The HTPC is connected via HDMI to my flat screen TV. I have the latest drivers installed. The audio device disappears after the TV is switched off, or the input is changed on the TV. The only way that I can get the HDMI audio device to show up again is by re-booting the PC. Thank you to you and and the Engineering team for looking into this. I am another person that will be monitoring this thread and anxiously awaiting a fix.

Kevin, thanks for you help so far. I looked through my motherboard manual (Asus H87M-Plus). It doesn't say specifically about how many channels are supported with HDMI audio. It only mentions the realtek driver (ALC887) supporting 8-channels. To get the audio to work I have to have the Sound->Playback control panel on the intel driver and it says that the max channels supported on that are 2. So even though the realtek driver says 8, there must be some issue. I can't seem to find any place to change the configuration on a system level.
Basically, if I play itunes through my receiver, it sounds pretty terrible (compared to playing the music through a PS3 connected to the receiver with all other settings the same). XBMC sounds great though...

Yep, the chipset, the drivers, or both, are flawed. I've done everything right, tried every workaround and, like many others, no audio from the hdmi device. From this thread and other sources it's clear that Intel has known about this for months. It is to Intel's extreme discredit that they have not yet provided a fix or some sort of relief to customers that have been subjected to this foul up. I haven't even seen any official statement from Intel acknowledging the problem or offering any sort of explanation.
I'd like to be more constructive, but Intel - this is bad business.

Ok, I found a solution to this issue that works, at least for me. It seems that the installer package for the HD 4400 Graphics drivers is failing to install the "Display Audio" driver. Without the Intel "Display Audio" driver, there can be no audio over HDMI.
This means that the Display Audio driver must be loaded "manually" using the Device Manager in Windows. The process for diagnosing this problem and manually adding the Display Audio driver is clearly described by BoulderJ over at Windows Eight Forums. Here's the link...
http://www.eightforums.com/sound-audio/26770-audio-over-hdmi-cable-not-working-hdmi-cable-not-plugged-2.html http://www.eightforums.com/sound-audio/26770-audio-over-hdmi-cable-not-working-hdmi-cable-not-plugged-2.html
BoulderJ's post is near the bottom of the page.

I also having the same problem on sony vaio pro i7. HDMI had no sound.
and I got the code 10 error on my hd audio driver.
I sent my laptop to Singapore Sony service center and they asking me to downgrade my OS to win 8 instead of win 8.1.
Had been trying to seek for the solution for past weeks.
Anyone can help?

Hi All,
We have received reports from users with Intel® boards that the issue persists after installing the latest bios and Graphics driver.
If any of you have this problem please make sure you update the bios and graphics driver and post your dxdiag report here and the graphics report.
This will help us identifying the affected boards and have the solution as soon as possible.

i have an Acer Aspire V3 772g with i5 4200M and intel hd 4600 graphics. It also has an Nvidia GTX 760m for things like Games.
My HDMI video output works but Audio won't work.
I realized that when i don't have the Intel Graphic Drivers installed and start the installation, it firstly installs the audio drivers. After finishing the audio drivers, i can see the intel display-audio in my Device Manager but not in playback devices.
Then the setup installs the graphic drivers. When they are finished, Intel Display-Audio simply disappears from the Device Manager. Even in playback devices i never saw HDMI output during the installation. BUT 2 times an intel WiDi device pops up for one second and then disappears.
2 days ago(where the problem began) i was on Windows 7 with latest intel drivers and latest Bios. All other drivers where the latest from the manufacturer. The problem just came from nowhere. My setup worked 1 day before and worked since 2 weeks. Same TV, same HDMI cable. I tried several TVs and HDMI cables now, nothing works.
I wrote with Acer support which said i should install Windows 8 or 8.1. I did and now i have the same error.
please help me. It's important to use HDMI for me.
here is my DXDIAG:
