Hello,
I'm experiencing a display issue on my laptop with an Intel processor that can't be controlled correctly via the driver or the Intel control panel.
Problem Description:
During the installation of the latest driver updates via Intel-Driver-and-Support-Assistant-Installer.exe, the display went blank and then started displaying correctly, but after a reboot, the image became dimmer and then too bright for certain content on the screen.
After a reboot, the system returned to the "bad" display: it became either too bright, too bright, or too dark.
The Intel control panel reports: "This display is not connected to an Intel® graphics product to configure display functions" because I'm using the discrete Nvidia 4060 Mobile GPU on my Aorus 15 9kf laptop.
Default Windows settings (HDR, adaptive brightness) and registry settings (OverlayTestMode, CABCOption, DisableCABC) don't affect the behavior.
I was able to temporarily improve the image only after updating the driver via DSU (Intel Driver & Support Utility), but the effect was lost after a reboot (and that was only once, when my display went blank. I reset it to 60 Hz, and the image returned to normal).
The only thing that worked before was this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\MonitorDataStore\SHP155D0_17_07E5_C3]
"AutoColorManagementSupported"=dword:00000000
After a reboot, the image became stable and didn't change depending on the context.
What I've already tried:
Completely disabled adaptive brightness, CABC, and HDR in Windows. (I did everything I could and found in the settings, using a million guides.)
The latest versions of Intel and NVIDIA drivers are installed.
Testing in safe mode didn't improve the situation. The picture still changed depending on the screen content, which is incredibly annoying.
I'm asking for help with this problem: how can I get a stable display so that the brightness and contrast remain correct, and the physical picture itself becomes brighter than it is now (in the situation I'm describing – it's brighter than it is now, despite the brightness being set to 100 in the settings, and power saving was always disabled)
and not depend on the screen content.
I'm writing here because when I reinstalled Windows – after I downloaded the Intel drivers – the picture was still beautiful, but after restarting, I had to change the registry setting and restart the PC again each time. Now this doesn't work, and I only noticed it once when I updated the drivers to the latest version.
I tried to attach and add everything I could to make the request complete, and also added several photos and videos illustrating the problem.

Hi Yany1944,
Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum. Since this is an OEM (Branded Laptop) original equipment manufacturer device, please take into consideration that our support may be limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings, customizations, custom drivers, and features that the OEM has designed and installed your system, nevertheless, I will do my best to assist you. To assist us in investigating the issue, please provide the following details:
- Have you tried using the OEM driver for testing?
- When did the issue start? Was it after a specific driver update?
- Have you used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove all residual drivers and installed a new one?
- If applicable, does this issue occur on external monitors when connected, or only on the laptop's built-in display?
- Are you using any color management profiles or third-party display calibration software that might be interfering?
- Does the brightness change happen immediately when you open certain apps or websites?
Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here. Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.
Best regards,

-Have you tried using the OEM driver for testing?
-Yes, nothing changes (the picture stays the same, as if automatic adjustment based on screen content is enabled).
-When did the issue start?
If I'm not mistaken, this situation always haunts me every time I reinstall Windows.
(I'll simulate this:
1. I just got past the welcome screen and am waiting for Windows to download all the necessary display drivers.
2. At some point, my maximum screen refresh rate becomes available.
3. I can't remember exactly, but it seems to have happened after downloading the Intel drivers – this picture state starts after a reboot (it's important to note that I use NVIDIA graphics to render the desktop, but some Windows/Intel tweaks still affect the picture).
Just as I wrote before – yesterday I installed Intel's DSA. At some point, the screen went blank and the picture became the desired one, but after a reboot, everything returned, so I'm concluding that it's related to Intel.
Was it after a specific driver update?
-I'm not sure, this has always been the case.
-Have you used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove all residual drivers and install a new one?
-Yes, I always do that during installations. systems, but it's not quite related to drivers.
-If applicable, does this issue occur on external monitors when connected, or only on the laptop's built-in display?
-I can't say for sure about other monitors, sorry.
-Are you using any color management profiles or third-party display calibration software that might be interfering?
-No, I also don't use any color correction in "colorcpl."
-Does the brightness change happen immediately when you open certain apps or websites?
-Physical brightness is initially lower than the state I wanted to restore, and brightness and saturation literally depend on the screen content. I'll attach a video!

Hi Yany1944,
We are still currently investigating your issue; however, can you please test your laptop with the Intel iGPU disabled to see if the issue persists? If the issue continues even with the Intel graphics disabled, it will indicate that the problem is related to your NVIDIA graphics card or the operating system rather than the Intel graphics.
Additionally, please check if your system has Intel Graphics Command Center (IGCC) installed. If yes, please follow these steps:
- Launch Intel® Graphics Command Center.
- Select Video tab on the left side.
- In the current profile, scroll down to the bottom, disable Contrast Enhancement.
Please let me know on the results on this, if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Hero Yuki S.
