Raid 5 on Berkeley MB

I have an HP Pavilion Ultimate d4995t desktop.

I cannot seem to setup any RAID mode other than 0 or 1 in either the Intel add-on ROM 7.5.0.1017 or in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology. The choice just is not available (RAID10 is visible but greyed out in IRST, RAID5 is not listed at all).

It has Intel(R) ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R/DO/5 Series/3400 Series SATA RAID Controller which shoud allow 5, 10.

It came with 1 WDC WD5000AAKS-00V1A0 and I've properly installed 2 more.

The BIOS is set to RAID.

It works for RAID0. All the Intel documentation says it should do RAID5 & 10

Puzzled?

Dave

Update the BIOS and contact HP should you still not be able to get RAID 5.

Already got the latest 5.13 BIOS, ddn't help. Other searches have led me to believe it's an HP doesn't support this issue. Deliberatly taken out of the ROM? I'm just going to RAID0 x 3 x 500G and keep it hooked to the 1.5G FreeAgent for backup.

Thanks for the reply.
