The second monitor is not displaying any image

Hello everyone,

I am unable to actively use the second monitor of my computer. The computer recognizes the monitors, but I can only get a display from the monitor connected via DisplayPort (DP); the screen connected via HDMI remains black. I am not using any converters in between. Before installing the graphics card driver, the HDMI-connected screen works, but the DP-connected screen stays black. After installing the driver, the situation reverses; I get a display from DP, but the HDMI-connected screen is black. In other words, both monitors are not active at the same time, despite trying to extend the display with Win+P and similar actions. The graphics card driver and BIOS are up to date; I have also made the necessary settings in Windows, but I couldn't solve the issue.

My monitors are as follows:

  1. Monitor: Rampage Glacier GL27R180Q 27" QHD 2K 180Hz 1ms IPS G-Sync/Freesync

  2. Monitor: Samsung S27E310 FHD 1080p 60Hz.

The components of my computer are as follows:

  • Intel Core i5-12400F 2.50GHz (Max. 4.4GHz)

  • ASUS Prime H610M-F D4 r2.0-CSM Intel H610 socket 1700 DDR4 3200MHz mATX Gaming

  • Sparkle Intel Arc A750 orc OC 8 GB SA750C-8goc GDDR6 256 bit DX12

  • T-Force Vulcan Z red 16 GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 Gaming RAM

  • Patriot P320 512 GB 3000/2200MB/s NVMe M.2 SSD.

Rampage Glacier GL27R180Q
2560 x 1440 @ 180 Hz 10 bpc (28.84 Gbps)
2 x HDMI 2.0
2 x DisplayPort 1.4

Samsung S27E310H
1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz
1 x HDMI

SPARKLE Intel Arc A750 ORC OC Edition
1 x HDMI 2.0
3 x DisplayPort

Please connect as follows:
Arc A750 > HDMI cable > Samsung S27E310H
Arc A750 > DisplayPort cable > Rampage Glacier GL27R180Q

For DisplayPort you need a cable that can transmit the DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 protocol. Use a high quality cable, e.g.

Club 3D DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 Cable VESA Certified

If this is already the case, please create a Report for Intel Graphics Drivers and attach the output file here.

Friends, it's hard to believe, but with the suggestion of a Discord Intel employee, I unplugged my monitor and plugged it back in and my problem was solved. It may work for those who have this problem.

That seems like it would be only a short-term workaround. Let us know if the problem comes back after power cycles, reboots.

Good day
I have the same problem, I have 3 Lenovo PC sets with additional Lenovo monitors
Windows 11 Pro latest updates
Neo 50a 24 Gen 3 Desktop (ThinkCentre)
+
Lenovo E28-24 Monitor

The problem started after about 1 week of use, the second monitor turns off completely irregularly on these sets.
I did:
swap with another monitor from another manufacturer
I replaced the cable with one compliant with the 2.1 standard
Intel Arc drivers
I even installed a clean system without additional applications

I turned off acceleration in browsers
The problem keeps turning off for no reason at all, you have to remove the cable and reconnect it.

It looks like there is a sudden lack of signal from HDMI out, causing the additional monitor to go to sleep, or some lack of synchronization

Total disaster, finally something that already froze me, I found a 5-year-old Dell AiO with an Intel ARC card and the effect is the same!!!

Either the drivers or the chipset is faulty, I've been struggling with this for a good 2 weeks now, service has no answers, they don't know anything, there's no info on the forums.

I beg you for help,

Lenovo ThinkCentre neo 50a 24 - Product Specifications Reference

Max. Output: 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz = 18 Gbps TMDS (HDMI 2.0)

Despite the physical proximity of the connected devices, it is advisable to use HDMI cables that are at least 2 meters long. Extensive testing, especially in home theater racks, has confirmed that shorter lengths, while obviously transmitting signals, affect the repeatability of the handshake and the long-term operational consistency of the system. Errors can occur if the HDCP test hierarchy does not have time to complete authentication. A longer cable (ideally 3 meters) provides the physical distance for the electronic timing to fully propagate. Maintain this HDMI cable routing between all connected HDMI devices. This will greatly contribute to system stability. To transmit 4K @ 60 Hz with True Color, ideally use a certified so-called "Premium High Speed HDMI Cable".

Example: Club 3D Premium High Speed HDMI 4K60Hz UHD Cable 3m / 9.84 ft

An HDMI 2.1 cable may appear to be of higher quality, but that doesn't have to be the case, as other strengths also play a role here. Always use the right cable for the respective purpose. In this case, HDMI 2.0.

If these measures don't help, then unfortunately you have to assume that there is electromagnetic interference in your environment that is causing problems. It is rather unlikely that all of your devices are defective. Are they all in the same room? Are there any other similarities? Which power strips do you use ...

Thank you for your answer, I am already so desperate that I will order the cable you mentioned in a moment. I also assume that it is impossible for three sets to be faulty. As I mentioned, I pulled out some old Dell with Windows 10 and the aforementioned graphics card, started it up and the problem is the same, as I learned from a colleague, it was sent for replacement due to this problem and the person working on it successfully uses the set with Lenovo and UHD card.

I refer to them in order:

3 PC sets + additional monitor

2 in one room (1 with the mentioned problem, 2 without the problem at the moment)

1 on a separate floor (with the problem)

both rooms are typical office rooms, I assume that there are no harmful electromagnetic conditions there), unless it is caused by an AP suspended 5 meters away, or a dongle from the Logitech keyboard mouse set - I disconnected these for testing - unfortunately it still cuts off the vision on the second screen.

We have removed sources of possible electromagnetic fields from the sets, desk phones, mobile phones

The system event from the Windows "event log", basically the only one recorded:
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device {DD8E82AE-334B-49A2-AEAE-AEB0FD5C40DD}\DetectionVerification\5&2300395&0&0.

In the system events, there are various events for example 2 below from the moment of cutting off the vision on the second screen:

Each older set and the mentioned new ones have their own separate UPS, I also tested without using them

I have other such sets with an integrated Intel UHD card, at the moment quickly counting 5 pieces, connected with cables, to put it mildly, "budget", they work without a problem. Also with wireless keyboard mouse sets. These sets are found in rooms with problematic sets.

Of course, I will check it with the cable you suggest tomorrow, after I purchase it.

So I checked, everything.

4 different monitors available in the entire organization

7 different HDMI cables from 1 meter to 5 meters all standards 2.0, 2.1

drivers for Iris all available on the Intel website as well as the manufacturer of my PC

different refreshes in all available versions, applying the inf chipset to them.

Please forgive me but I am very bitter and I will probably never buy anything from Intel again, once I was left with the same thing, Lenovo service says to reinstall the system, this is some kind of mockery clean Windows 11 22H2 system drivers from the website plus the above-mentioned activities which involved 2 technicians for 5 days in total.
In addition, employees using these PCs have mandatory post, drama...

I do not require working with any fancy applications here, only Word, Excel on two monitors

Why do I as a consumer have to deal with such a problem, why is there no one correct configuration for this device, if it does not work, then what is the purpose of the external HDMI output that does not work.

Is there anyone here who can take care of the matter, I do not understand that neither Intel nor Lenovo are able to do anything about it?!

Don't blame Intel; Lenovo (and Dell too!) have been delivering these absolute garbage HDMI ports on their laptops for years.

Just saying,

Everything is fine but what do I do next, it has three sets of useless for me, the solution from support is to restore Windows from the image and not upgrade the graphics card driver version, and what if in half a year it will be required, for example, due to the next version of Windows. Why does none of the vendors inform that you are buying a device where the correct operation of HDMI is your own responsibility.
Intel and Lenovo are not very interested in my topic.

I understand very well that you are disappointed. As far as the technical background is concerned: Intel sells processors (with integrated graphics) and chipsets to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like Lenovo. Those OEMs are then responsible for choosing a motherboard design with selection of suitable electronic components including the physical connectors so that everything runs smoothly.

Example: Lenovo ThinkCentre neo 30a Gen 3:

You can see your devices here:
ThinkCentre neo 50a 24 Gen 3 - Hardware Maintenance Manual

I share your assessment that reinstalling the operating system is unlikely to solve the problem. So it is quite possible that there is a hardware problem here that is due to the Lenovo-specific implementation. You may simply have received a faulty batch of devices. According to your description, the devices are new. I would make the warranty claim you are entitled to against Lenovo. Maybe then things will speed up.
