Issue: HDMI display shows black screen when booting Windows 11 24H2 at 4K 60Hz using UHD 730 GPU.
Hardware:
CPU: Intel Alder Lake (with UHD 730)
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 730
Motherboard: Gigabyte B660I (latest BIOS)
Display: LG C2 (HDMI 2.1)
Cable: Certified HDMI 2.1 (8K-rated)
Driver version: 32.0.101.6972 (latest Intel DCH driver, tested July 2025)
Problem:
On Windows 11 24H2, when using 4K at 60Hz over HDMI, the screen stays black after the boot process (during graphics driver initialization). Removing and replugging the HDMI cable restores the image.
This does not occur in 23H2 — same driver, same hardware, same cable, same display.
Works fine at 30Hz or in 23H2.
Reproducible: 100%, across reboots.
Conclusion: Appears to be a regression in how the Intel driver (or 24H2) handles HDMI handshake/EDID sync at 4K60.

- What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?
- Have you used DDU to completely remove all residual drivers and installed a new one?
- Have you tried lowering the resolution to see if the issue still persists?
Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here. Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility.

I have not tested with lower resolution so I do not know. But as I stated before setting 30 Hz works and I guess 1080p@60Hz and higher frequency works but cannot confirm.
I did do a DDU some time back and have not had any issue with the drivers for UHD 730 for the time I used Windows 11. When 24H2 was new I did try to update with same issue I now have. I then tested this again some days ago hoping something was fixed on the Intel drivers but did not work.
In terms of troubleshooting step; I have tested the latest drivers in Windows 23H2 and it works fine and have never had any issue for years. I have lower from 60Hz to 30Hz and this works also. Because I know that the MB, TV, CPU and cable works with Windows 11 in 23H2 and do not believe that there is any kind of issue or limitation not to work, I have now crated this ticket to get it solved.
Something have been changed in 24H2 that creates a sync issue with Intel drivers when using 4k@60Hz in HDR (Yes I use HDR).

Hi lans,
To help diagnose and identify the issue, please follow these steps:
- Boot the system in Safe Mode to check if the display functions correctly and the system starts up without problems.
- If feasible, connect a different monitor to see if the issue is specific to the current monitor.
- If available, try using the DisplayPort to determine if the problem is limited to the HDMI port.
Additionally, please confirm the exact make and model of your monitor. Is the issue started after updating the graphics driver to version 32.0.101.6972? Have you encountered similar issues with previous driver versions.
Best regards,
Archie D.

This TV does not have any DisplayPort so I cannot test this. No the issue did not happen when installing the new drivers. This issue happen like one year ago when I updated to 24H2 for the first time and was using the latest driver from Intel at that time. I then tried again like a week ago with new drivers to upgrade to 24H2 again with the same issue.
I have not tried going into safe-mode and even if I did it would not help because I already know that everything works with the hardware and drivers so there are no limitation there (using 23H2). The only issue right now is the combination of the Intel driver and 24H2.
