Unified shared memory allocation (shared memory allocation) in Intel Integrated Graphics

Hello,

I would like to ask regarding the support for unified shared memory mainly shared memory allocation using clSharedMemAllocINTEL API function in Intel Integrated Graphics.

The documentation in: cl_intel_unified_shared_memory   , clSharedMemAllocINTEL allocate shared memory between host and device which can be migrated between CPU (host) and GPU (device).  The resources I found so far mostly discuss shared memory allocation in case of discrete GPUs.

What is the situation in case of intel Integrated Graphics (gen9, gen11) when the CPU the integrated graphics (gen9 or gen11) use the same main memory. Is there migration in this case? or both the CPU and integrated graphics will use the same physical allocated shared memory.

Thanks,

Hello @ghadBU

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to review this further, could you please provide us with more details?

1- Why are you looking for this information?

2- Are developing an app using Intel® Graphics and Intel® developer tools? Are you having any "graphics issues" with an app? Please provide details:

3- If this is regarding the development of an app, is the app already available to the public, or is it still under development?

4- Feel free to add any other additional information or concerns you may consider useful to understand better this request.
