when I run an update of my graphics driver through the "Intel Driver Update Utility 2.6", I select which driver I want to update and then it downloads. But when I go to install it, a message appears that says "unknown error". What am I doing wrong?

Checking your system specification, your chipset and computer model do not support this operating system; therefore, the chipset driver will not install. My recommendation is to stick with fully supported operating system for drivers availability, see here for the supported operating systems http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmisc/vac/us/product_pdfs/HP_Compaq_8000EliteBusiness_PC_Data_Sheet_Mar2011update.pdf http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmisc/vac/us/product_pdfs/HP_Compaq_8000EliteBusiness_PC_Data_Sheet_Mar2011update.pdf.

Amy.

Amy,
So your saying that the chipset driver wont install because it is not supported under Windows 10? If that is the case how can I go about going back to Windows 7 in order to download this latest chipset driver?
Thank you.

That is correct, your chipset model Intel® Q45 Express does not support Windows® 10. Try something like this http://www.howtogeek.com/220723/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-and-downgrade-to-windows-7-or-8.1/ How to Uninstall Windows 10 and Downgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1, once you rolled back to Windows 7 here you should be able to get the proper drivers http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=4065866 Drivers & Software for HP Compaq Elite 8000 Convertible Minitower PC - HP Support Center.
