My PC's Hard Drive went caput a few days ago and after getting it replaced I can't seem to set up VR properly. What confuses me is the fact that VR worked swimmingly before with little issues, and yet now the Drivers that I'm missing I can't seem to find anything to do with.
It started with getting Error 208 on SteamVR, which usually just means that the Display for the Headset isn't found. However, after checking the Device Manager, I noticed that unlike before, there were 4 things under "Other Devices" that had the warning symbol next to them, as well as noticing that those four things that seem broken are necessary for VR.
The Devices that seem to not be working are as follows:
- BCM2045A0
- PCI Serial Port
- PCI Simple Communications Controller
- SM Bus Controller
I'm assuming that I won't be able to get VR running until these are fixed, and I can't seem to find many decent suggestions on finding their drivers online. The only fixes I've found are to Uninstall the USB Drivers so they reinstall properly, which didn't seem to work, and to try to install the latest Chipset (whatever that is, I have no clue) which only told me that it was incompatible with my PC.
Does anyone have any kind of suggestions on what I can try to alleviate the issue?

You need to go to your motherboard/system manufacturer's support site and install the ME (management Engine) software for your motherboard.

It should have also fixed the SM bus controller. Did you reboot?
Also, I have no idea what BCM2045A0 is.
Did you run the chipset software for your motherboard immediately after you did the windows install? If not, you should do it.

All I know about BCM2045A0 is I believe it has something to do with Bluetooth, after that I've got nothin'.
As for the SM Bus Controller, even restarting hasn't fixed it according to the Device Manager. And when it comes to the Chipset, I've tried installing ones from both Dell (marked as Baseboard Manufacturer in my system info) and AMD (my pc's graphics), and the AMD one installed fine yet changed nothing, and the Dell one said that it was completely unable to install.
I am still a novice when it comes to things like this, so if I'm doing anything wrong please let me know as well.

So the Intel customer support technicians can have more information about your system, download and run the Intel System Support Utility (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- ) for Windows. Select all data categories and then have it generate a report. Next, have the tool Save the report to a text file (don't try to use the Submit capability; it doesn't work). Finally, using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog below the edit box for the body of your response post, upload and attach this file to the response post.

Also, I believe that the error with BCM2045A0 has to do with the Dell Wireless 1540/1530 Wi-Fi Driver, which was the only one of the three that installed that failed to install.

You should install the Chipset Software and the Management Engine vPro components from this page:

All the drivers you need are on the link above.
You have a 4th gen processor, which means your machine is 13-years-old. Not much life left in it.
Also, your graphics are AMD. Any issues you have with VR are related to your AMD graphics.

Alright, I succeeded in installing the Chipset which succeeded in fixing the SM Bus Controller, now all that's left is the one I believe has to do with Bluetooth.

You can try the Dell Wireless 1530/1540 Wi-Fi Driver from the same page. But, I think it is a broadcom driver, which should still be on the same page.

I did, that's the only one that fails to install. Gives the message "The update installer operation is unsuccessful."

Are we talking about the dell driver or the broadcom driver?

When I looked it said all of Broadcom's drivers were set to be within Microsoft's automatic updates now, am I missing something else?

According to Windows Update, it states that I'm not up to date and "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes." However, there's no option to actually install the updates, it just says there are ones I'm missing. When I click "Check for updates" nothing shows up either.
