Video Output Issue with Intel UHD Graphics After Windows 11 Upgrade

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue with video output resolutions on my laptop since upgrading to Windows 11 (company policy, rollback to Windows 10 is not an option).

System Details:

  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz
  • Processor Speed: 1190 MHz
  • Graphics Driver: Intel® UHD Graphics
  • GFX Driver Version: 31.0.101.2134

Issue Description:
Previously, on Windows 10, I could connect to an external 4K monitor via HDMI while also using the integrated 1366x768 laptop display. Everything worked flawlessly, and I was able to achieve full 4K resolution on two different external monitors models.

Since upgrading to Windows 11, the maximum resolution I can set via the HDMI connection is 1920x1080, regardless of the monitor used. I’ve double-checked cables and monitors, and they are all the same ones I used before the upgrade.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  1. Verified all external monitors and HDMI cables are functional on other devices.
  2. Checked for the latest updates for Windows and the Intel UHD Graphics driver.
  3. Attempted to manually install the latest Intel UHD Graphics driver from the Intel website.
  4. Tried adjusting settings in Windows Display Settings and Intel Graphics Command Center, but no higher resolutions appear as options.

Please find attached the Intel Graphics Driver report generated from the Intel® Graphics Command Center. For this test, I used a 1440p display connected via HDMI instead of the 4K monitor mentioned earlier. Note that the third screen, connected wirelessly (not via HDMI), was not captured in this report. However, the issue persists: the maximum resolution I can achieve on the HDMI-connected display is still limited to 1920x1080, while the wireless display can output at 2560x1440.

I’d appreciate any guidance or suggestions to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

João Pedro Oliveira

Dell Inspiron 3501 - Setup and Specifications

I believe you when you say that Windows 10 can do more than Dell claims.

It seems that the new operating system has reduced the device to what it actually should do according to the specifications. If rolling back to Windows 10 is not an option, then unfortunately I am not aware of any options. Dell will probably refer to the device's specifications, so unfortunately you will probably have to live with this new limitation.
