I ran the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) V17.0.3.0. (at which time it said it would disable automatic windows driver updates) and restarted
I then ran & installed win64_154028.4501 and restarted
I the went to wndows update, which then said a driver update was available.
I didnt quite know what to do since I believed already had the latest drivers but felt I had no choice since I had another update to install and it was going to install wheter I wanted to or nor.
Now my intel graphic control panel says I have version 21.20.16.4534, driver date according to hwinfo64 is OCT 6, 2016
Should I leave it as it is or reinstall 4501?
thanks

That is, at least as far as the Intel websites is concerned. And how would this apply (appropriate build designations) to downloads from the microsoft?

"You can ignore the two-digit numbers"
Seems to me that the explanation on that page contradicts Angie's the explanation of version vs build?? No matter.
And I see no such set of numbers in parenthesis on this site for my drivers or on the page for the drivers of the original poster on the other thread.
However, the tables at http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005654.html Understanding The Intel® Graphics Driver Version Number do, at least partially explain the driver version numbers at microsoft.
But I believe I may need to extend my apologies and a correction for some of my previous comments.
On my first visit to the v15.45.10.4542 page, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26404/Intel-Graphics-Driver-15-45- Download Intel® Graphics Driver [15.45] , under "This download is valid for the product(s) listed below", I failed to scroll that menu to the very bottom, where it reads "Intel® HD Graphics for 6th Generation Intel® Processors". If you click on that link, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/96741/Intel-HD-Graphics-for-6th-Generation-Intel-Processors Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics for 6th Generation Intel® Processors it takes you to a page that only shows v15.45.10.4542, and says "No more matches"
On that page, under "What's new?", the first line reads "The latest Intel® Graphics Driver release supports the newest https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/core-processor-family.html 7th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors." So I erroneously interpreted that to mean "6th Generation Intel® Processors" were not supported.
On 11/10, Angie remarked "You are correct, our latest signed generic driver for 6th Generation graphics controller is version 15.40.28.4501, available for download here:"
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics-Drivers Downloads for Graphics Drivers
Which at the time was what that page said.
Today, it lists v15.45.10.4542 as the latest driver.
Stefan3D, Im sure you recall, wayyy back on 11/5, your post about v15.45.10.4542.
Thanks for hangin' in there with me.

One more thing.
Also from Angie's 11/10 post,
"With the model of your Intel® Core™ i5-6500 Processor, you will confirm the graphic version on our product website:
http://ark.intel.com/ http://ark.intel.com/
If you follow that link to its logical conclusion, the 'Drivers Download" link takes you to http://ark.intel.com/products/88184/Intel-Core-i5-6500-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz# @downloads Intel® Core™ i5-6500 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz) Specifications
Where it still says v15.40.28.4501 is the latest driver.

Hello oromine,
I understand that the driver definitions and which one to install may turn out to be confusing. That is why we just updated the article http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005654.html Understanding the Intel® Graphics Driver Version Number
Feel free to take a look at the article, and if you have any question regarding the drivers let us know.
We recently released a new production driver for 6th and 7th Generation graphics controllers. The new driver baseline is 15.45, and its latest build is .4542, which you can download here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26404/Intel-Graphics-Driver-15-45- Download Intel® Graphics Driver [15.45]
Kindest Regards,
