I recently purchased a Dell Vostros A860 which came with Vista. I wanted to install WinXP Pro, but Dell has no drivers for this computer for WinXP. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&os=WLH&osl=en&ServiceTag=BCV1GJ1&catid=-1&impid=-1 http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&os=WLH&osl=en&ServiceTag=BCV1GJ1&catid=-1&impid=-1
I was told go to the manufacturers of the chipset, intel, to get drivers for WinXP Pro.
Where would I find these drivers via Intel?

Sorry, I put the wrong number down for the computer it's a Dell Vostros A860
http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-vostro-a860?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04 http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-vostro-a860?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04
It has an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
Does Intel have drivers for such a chipset?

cool. your laptop has got the same chipset as my Dell Latitude.
You can find the SATA Storage drivers here:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-025753.htm
choose Intel® Matrix Storage Manager > download for GM965 > Choose OS > and then choose 32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility.
With windows XP, you absolutely need a floppy to install it otherwise you will need to integrate the driver into the installation CD.
This can be easily done with a free utility called nLite.

Thanks for the driver info. I'm going to use the nLite.
So after I've loaded these sata drivers, should the rest of the drivers for dell latitude drivers install properly on the new winxp installation?

well, when you go through the wizzard in nLite it has an option called drivers. (the full instructions are on the link to the guide i posted earlier).
You CAN install other drivers as well but some of them require setup programs to configure the system.
