help installing graphics card

I'm trying to install a graphics card (Sapphire Radeon 4550 PCIE-2) on a DQ965CO board. The problem is that on booting with the new card, the machine stops at the BIOS, but won't let me in to disable onboard graphics. I push the F2 key, but nothing. 5A comes up in the lower right corner.

Is the external card bad? Or what?

The onboard graphics should be disabled automatically and is probably grayed out since you can't use both.
