intel HD3000 doesn't send full range RGB 0-255 trought HDMI

Hi,

As the subject says,

I cant enable full range RGB output trought HDMI. But there is no problem sendig full range signal throught vga or dvi connectors.

It's an old problem that never got fixed.

Please review this problem and provide a fixed driver.

There was an option to choose Full Range or Limited Range in the intel proprties application but got removed or never worked.

This problem, i repeat, exists only with the HDMI output.

Another problem is that intel drivers don't respect EDID Override option in the registry.

Here's the modified (highlighted) inf:

I' forgot to specify: I've Pentium G2020 with HD Graphics, not HD 3000. But I think it doesn't matter.

sbbacsi,

please go here http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php and check if you can see all the diferents blacks.

About XBMC/DXVA I dont know.

I use mpc-hc+madvr. madvr settings for full range output.

I've checked already but this kind of test doesn't help I think.

In Windows desktop i've no problem with blacks as I already wrote. In the test I can see a differences too.

Blacks are gone just in movie playback. In MPC-HC with EVR too.

So I think it's just a video render problem... Limited/Full range output setting is also in Video section on the IGP driver control panel, it doesn't affect to desktop, isn't it?

I'll try madvr...

Is there any chance that it'll be fixed in the next driver?

And we could... just use IGP as HTPC. Without washed out pictures.

Or back to AMD, NV?

In XBMC no option for this, but it was fine with NV or AMD GPU-s.

I tried MadVR that has also washed out blacks with 0-255 output setting.

It's definitely a driver bug... and as I find over the net, it's a 2-3 years old bug at least.

I'll have to change to AMD.

Edit: This problem came from HDMI ouptut handling I think. Renderer (DXVA, EVR...) does no affect. Decoder doesn't also: (DXVA, Quicksync, sw).

By the way in my G2020 there is no Quicksync.

Something has changed with the new driver.

Now:

- Madvr has good picture with 0-255 output: blacks and clear. Full/limited driver setting doesn't affect it.

- With EVR (default MPC-HC renderer): There is no washed out picture with "limited" driver output setting. With "full" the picture is washed out/grey as previously. XBMC is the same.

So when I changed the output to "limited" the picture looks great finally!

I don't understand it why is it wrong with "full" setting. And I don't know that limited setting can cause gradient problems (the limited output is really 16-235 and a TV scale up to 0-255?)... or not becuase it's a simple bug? (limited - full settings transposed?)
