Intel 7th-10th Gen Processor Graphics-Windows update blocked by powershell.
2.90 Ghz core i5-10th gen DCH driver
Is this an important update? How to get around powershell without jumping through hoops? Thanks for any advice. I am a simple customer, not a graphics technician. Help.

I understand how confusing it can be when a graphics driver update is being blocked by PowerShell, especially when you simply want to keep your system up to date without dealing with complicated technical steps.
To better understand what is happening, could you confirm:
- What is the exact processor model (for example, Core i5-10210U)?
- What is your laptop/system model?
- What Windows version and build are you using?
- Are you seeing the update through Intel Driver & Support Assistant (DSA) or Windows Update?
- What is the exact PowerShell error/message you receive? A screenshot would also be helpful.
- Are you trying to install the driver manually, or is Windows/DSA attempting to install it automatically?
If the issue is specifically related to running a PowerShell script, you can use a temporary execution-policy bypass rather than permanently changing your system's security settings:
Here, Bypass applies only to that particular run, while NoProfile prevents PowerShell from loading the user's profile.
However, before trying PowerShell commands, share the exact error message and system details with us. We can then determine whether this driver update is applicable to your system and guide you through the simplest approach.
Here are the details you requested.
2.90 gigahertz Intel Core i5-10400
Dell Inc. Inspiron 3891
Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 2009 (build 26200.9168)
the update is via DSA which tries to install it automatically when i use intel driver & support assistant when i select install all
the error message appears in the lower right side of the screen and disappears quickly,
a screenshot for me is impossible, but here is what it says:
the process has been blocked
c:\windows\system32\
windowspowershell\v1.0\
powershell.exe
thanks for your help.
Hey @bernie5 ,
I’ll be temporarily taking over this thread while Ashwini is out of the office.
To help me better understand and troubleshoot the issue, could you please provide the following information?
-
What Intel Graphics driver version is currently installed? This can be found under Device Manager > Display adapters > Intel UHD Graphics > Properties > Driver.
-
Does the same PowerShell block occur when you select only the graphics driver in Intel Driver & Support Assistant, rather than selecting Install all?
-
What version of Intel Driver & Support Assistant are you currently using?
-
Does the message appear every time you attempt the installation, or only intermittently?
If possible, please also provide a screenshot of the DSA page showing the graphics driver update being offered. I understand the PowerShell message disappears quickly, so a screenshot of that message itself is not necessary.
Once I have these details, I can further narrow down whether the issue is related to DSA, the graphics driver installation, or a Windows security/policy restriction.
Thank you for your and patience.
Intel UHD Graphics 630
date: 11/5/2025
version: 310.101.2140
It does not matter whether I select that specific driver or select install all in DSA.
No matter what I select, powershell blocks it.
I don't know how to identify the version of DSA that I'm using.

I understand that you are encountering an issue where PowerShell blocks the driver installation regardless of whether you select the specific graphics driver or the Install All option in Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA).
Please be informed that there have been changes to graphics driver availability for Intel Arc and 7th–10th Generation Intel® processors. You can find more information in the following article:
Graphics Driver Availability Changes for Intel Arc and 7th–10th Gen Intel® Processors
We recommend reviewing the information provided in the article and using the OEM-provided graphics driver, if one is available for your system, as OEM drivers are customized and validated for the specific system configuration.
Additionally, please verify that Resizable BAR (Re-Size BAR) is enabled in your BIOS, if supported by your system configuration.
Regarding the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant, we recommend uninstalling the current Intel® DSA installation and then reinstalling the latest version. After reinstalling, please perform a new scan and check whether the PowerShell issue persists during the driver installation.
Once you have completed these steps, kindly share the results with us so we can assist you further.
There is no useful information that made sense to me on the "graphics driver availability changes ... " page.
Resize bar is not supported.
I uninstalled dsa and reinstalled it.
The new scan found the following to be installed: Intel® 7th-10th Gen Processor Graphics - Windows*
and it was blocked by powershell as it has been blocked before.
I understand that Intel Driver & Support Assistant (DSA) is detecting Intel® 7th–10th Gen Processor Graphics – Windows*, but the driver update is being blocked by PowerShell.
To help us investigate this further, could you please share a screenshot of the exact PowerShell error message displayed when the driver update is blocked?
The exact error message will allow us to identify the cause and determine the appropriate troubleshooting steps. Once we receive the screenshot, I will review the information and get back to you with an update and the recommended next steps.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience. We look forward to receiving the screenshot.
If you look back in this chat, you will see the following on 8/25 which I repeat here below for your understanding:
"the error message appears in the lower right side of the screen and disappears quickly,
a screenshot for me is impossible, but here is what it says:
the process has been blocked
c:\windows\system32\
windowspowershell\v1.0\
powershell.exe
thanks for your help."
We acknowledge the information you previously shared regarding the “The process has been blocked” message related to powershell.exe. We understand that the message appears briefly in the lower-right corner of the screen and disappears quickly, making it difficult to capture a screenshot.
To further troubleshoot the issue, we recommend downloading the Intel graphics driver from the link below and performing a clean installation of the driver:
Intel® 7th-10th Gen Processor Graphics - Windows*
Once the clean installation is completed, restart the system and check whether the “The process has been blocked” message appears again.
Kindly share the results with us so we can proceed with the next steps accordingly.
I downloaded the driver from the link that you specified and ran the executable. It was blocked the same way as before with the same message in the lower right side of the screen
