For a while now, I've been experiencing several problems with my Intel ARC A770, which I will now describe in more detail.

Firstly, let's look at my system:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
  • GPU: Intel ARC A770 AsRock 8GB
  • RAM: 32GB 3200MHz
  • PSU: Corsair VS 550
  • Dual Monitor Setup:
    • Monitor 1: 2560x1440 (24" 100Hz)
    • Monitor 2: 1920x1080 (24" 165Hz)

Driver: Latest 31.0.101.5081

Now I will list all the problems occurring on my system.

  1. Monitor goes black every few seconds: The second monitor (1440p) turns off every few seconds when I start a game. This happens regardless of the game's demands. Additionally, the monitor goes black every few seconds after waking my PC from sleep mode, while it is the only one on when I am working on this monitor and don´t need the other one. A workaround is turning off and on this monitor, after which the problem doesn't occur.

  2. The Crew Motorfest crashes: Attempting to enter the game through the showroom causes the game to crash immediately. A workaround is teleporting directly to a playlist, but the game still crashes unpredictably after a few minutes.

  3. Graphic mods are partially unplayable: Some PC games rely on graphic mods, a significant part of PC gaming. I've noticed that for about half a year, my modded GTA 5 doesn't work anymore. This is due to incompatibility between Intel ARC and ENB. The graphic mod worked flawlessly before, providing good performance. Now the game either doesn't start with ENB or the in-game world is completely black.

  4. No option to upscale the display: Unlike AMD and NVIDIA, there's no option to increase the "monitor resolution" via a Virtual Desktop in the driver software. As many games today use TAA, poorly implemented (blurry image on 1080p & 1440p, e.g., Motorfest), such an option would be a significant advantage.

  5. XeSS should be available in every new game from the start: XeSS is better than FSR and on par with DLSS (qualitywise). It should be an alternative in the latest games and be implemented in some "older" games. Since graphics cards from other manufacturers also benefit from XeSS, it makes sense to establish a presence and gain mindshare in the gaming scene. People have to know that XeSS on ARC Cards is even better and will see it as a direct competitor to DLSS, potentially attracting new ARC users.

Hello bani1o7,

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the long wait. I am pleased to inform you that after several months of investigation and replication, Ubisoft has resolved this issue with the Season 4 release in July 2024. Please test the latest version of the game and let us know if you encounter any further issues. We would appreciate your feedback to ensure everything is working correctly.

Hello bani1o7,

Thank you for posting in the Intel Communities to report the issues you are experiencing and share some feedback to improve the user experience with our products. We can see that you are experiencing issues across multiple games and applications; however, we recommend reporting one issue per thread to keep our communities organized so we can avoid confusion among others. Based on this, we will continue to assist you with the crashing issue with the Crew Motorfest game.

We would like to let you know that Intel is currently investigating the crashing problem when playing this specific game title. Unfortunately, we don't have an update or estimated time for this issue, but rest assured that we are working on a solution. We will proceed to look into this matter internally and pass your information so we can further research the problem. We will be posting back as soon as we have more details.

Best regards

Hello bani1o7,

Before we proceed with to further look into this matter, and as we mentioned before, you need to separate the issues on different threads, so we can evaluate each issue individually and keep it in order.

For the monitor problem, we recommend you open a new thread so we can keep track of this and continue assisting you on the issue.

About the graphics mods in GTA V, we understand that the mods are a significant part of PC gaming; however, if you are experiencing issues with a game mode, you should report the issue to the Mod Developers. If they determine that the issue is part of the graphics driver, then we can continue assisting you on this matter.

Regarding the option to scale the display similar to other third-party products, we can continue assisting you on a different thread if you would like to, but if you share it as a recommendation, we can pass the feedback to the appropriate team.

Finally, for the recommendation that XeSS should be available in every game from the start, we would like to let you know that the XeSS feature is implemented in the game by the developer.

Said that we will now proceed to investigate the crashing issues with the Crew Motorfest game. We will be posting back as soon as we have more details.

Best regards

Yes, the Display Scaling is a recommendation and a feature, which I am really missing on my Intel ARC GPU.
In a time where almost every game has bad Temporal Anti Aliasing, some games would benefit of a higher resolution. It would be great if the Display Scaling could be implemented in the near future.

And I understand that the implementation of XeSS is developer-dependent, but it would be mutually beneficial for both Intel and users, especially in terms of temporal anti-aliasing, if a superior alternative like XeSS were provided instead of FSR.

As I already mentioned, the ENB mod worked with some drivers versions before. Unfortunately, I can't remember which driver was responsible for the world turning completely black. But it is 100 percent due to the Intel drivers.
Some ENB mods also crash the game directly back to the desktop without the game loading at all.
Similar to the crashes of The Crew Motorfest.
Maybe there is a connection between the two problems, which could help to solve the crashes on both sides.

Hi Norman,

I returned the game but downloaded the demo and tried it. I didn't play too much, about half an hour, but the game didn't crash anymore. It looks like the problem has been fixed. Even the "showroom" is working fine now.

Thanks for letting me know about the fix, even though it took them quite a while to fix it. Almost a whole year.
I hope for the near future new game releases will be supported on Intel ARC since launch. And I hope that ARC users will not be overlooked by game and application developers.

Thank you again for letting me know about the fix!

Kind regards
Bani

Hello bani1o7,

Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm glad to hear that the demo worked well for you and that the issues seem to be resolved, including the "showroom" feature. It's understandable that the long wait for the fix was frustrating, but it's great to see progress. Please be assured that we are actively considering customer feedback to enhance our products and that ARC users will receive the attention they deserve from developers.

Thank you again for updating me on the fix! I will close this inquiry for now. If you need further assistance, please submit a new question, as this thread will no longer be monitored.

Best regards,
