Are there plans to support virtualization?

I just purchased an A750 card and had to disable virtualization in order to get my monitors to turn on.

Is this a hardware limitation or a driver limitation?   Also, is this purely a limitation when used with AMD CPUs?

If it is a driver limitation, are there plans to address it?

I also want to know the answer to this. It's kind of ridiculous that we have to turn off features in order to use this card without crashing.

HI Jean,

Are you saying that the drivers do not currently support it, or that the hardware itself is not capable and therefore the drivers do not and will not ever support it?

Hello Everyone,

We appreciate your patience.

Unfortunately,  Intel Arc A-series GPUs don't support virtualization technologies. However, different AMD platforms with or without SVM and the GPU should work i.e. system boots and video is displayed.

We would like to collect more information about the affected system(s) and exactly which options must be off for the GPU to work.

If you can boot into the Operating System, provide us:

  • Intel System Support Utility (Intel SSU)
    • Download the Intel SSU
    • Open the application and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel SSU will take you to the "Summary View."
    • Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."
    • To save your scan: click "Next"; then "Save."
  • Intel® Graphics Command Center:
    • Open the Intel Graphics Command Center
    • Navigate to the Support tab
    • Select System Diagnostic
    • Click Generate Report
    • Select Save and name the output file.

If not, provide us with the following:

  • CPU Model:
  • MOBO Model:
  • OS build:
  • Card model:

My system crashes every 8 or 9 days. (I don't power it off as I'm running virtual machines 24/7).

When it crashes, it fails to reboot and gets stuck on the BIOS screen saying that the VGA adapter isn't compatible. A hard power cycle allows it to reboot again.

Hello Doug,

Thanks for your response.

We are currently investigating an issue where some PCs are entering a reboot cycle, and we are now working on a fix for this matter. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for a fix to be released. In case you want to share the status later on, you can reference the Bug ID 14017786850 in future threads.

Since this process requires further effort on our part and to void duplicate efforts, we are considering closing the thread, but we would like to know your opinion and confirm whether or not you agree to close the thread.

Is there a bug tracking system I can use to track this? or do I have to search these forums?

Hello Doug,

There is no tracking system to be notified about the Bugs reported. However, you should stay tuned for future driver updates. Driver release notes contain the fixes implemented on that driver version. You can use this thread in case we have further updates about this issue; however, we recommend you create a personal thread since this thread will be closed in case the Original Poster stops responding.

Hello MarkJ,

Thank you for your patience.

We would like to let you know that we won't comment on the reasons why virtualization is currently not supported on Intel Arc A-Series GPUs.

In case you are experiencing issues s with no POST with the GPUs, then we suggest creating new threads, as those are different situations.

We will now close this thread. If you need additional information, please submit a new question since this thread will no longer be monitored.

Best regards,
