Instability and artifacts in Enshrouded

Since Hotfix #9 Enshrouded has become very, very unstable on A770 16GB LE.

Before the update i've managed to play without issues for like 20-25 hours total.

Now the game:
1. Often crashes (minidump log - attached to this thread), mainly during Hollow Hall dungeon but also after a fast travelling. While the game community reports a similar problem, I noticed that it mainly affects Intel ARC users. The game devs seem to ignore it - there is a complete silence from their side.

2. Particle effects (blink), projectiles (magic) are not visible until I spend around 2-3 minutes in the game. It looks like they load very slowly.

3. What worries me the most is that during gameplay there happen to be parts of the terrain/textures that are significantly stretched in space. Often visible from great distance.

- Oddly enough, on such artifacts, grass, stones and other smaller objects stack, like it also had streched colliders.

- Whether such an arifact is visible depends on the position of the camera, and it is possible to approach it and look at such a texture from close distsance.

- Usually, looking directly at such an artifact reduces performance a lot, down to a few frames per second.

- I haven't noticed anyone else reporting such a problem on Steam or the game's Discord, so I'm worried about the condition of the graphics card.

- During gameplay, the game oscillates at around 50-60 frames, with temperatures hovering around 60C. GPU usage does not exceed ~85%, VRAM usage stays within 8-9GB.

- Artifacts appear in all graphicals settings - from lowest to highest

- This issue still persist, even after couple hotfixes and recent patch (so for around a month)

What I did from my side:

- I've installed multiple drivers to check if the issues persist on them (starting from 5186, to 5444). Each time made clean install using DDU in safe mode. Artifacts are visible in all of them.

- I've checked for Vulkan layers discrepancies. No issues there. The artifacts are visible even on 1.3.280 version

- I've verifed the game files via Steam

- Completely reinstalled the game

- Cleared the shader cache

- I've tested the GPU on many other games (like Helldivers, Elden Ring, New World, Ready or Not). All ran without issues, even if I pushed the GPU much more than in Enshrouded

- I've tested the GPU in Furmark (both benchmark and artifact checker) and OCCT. No issues and no errors found.

I hope that it really is the game build fault, not a dying GPU.

I've attached:

- SSU report

- DxDiag report

- enshrouded crash log

- screenshots of the artifacts.

Best wishes,

Przemek

Hello RuinR,

Thank you so much for patiently waiting on our response.

Please provide a screenshot or a screen recording of your game display settings. This will allow us to conduct a more thorough investigation and attempt to replicate the issue.

By the way, we have already attempted replication with driver version 31.0.101.5444, but we did not encounter any problems.

May we know if the issue occurs exclusively in a specific location or if the location is unrelated to the problem?

Thank you, and have a great day ahead!

Hello!

Thank you for the reply and investigating this case.

I attach three screenshots that should show in-game video settings I picked.

I also attached a screenshot showing location of the Hollow Halls dungeon - a place that has been the source of most of my crashes.

Regarding the ground artifacts - they seem to appear after around 2-3 minutes of the gameplay and their placement seems random, to be honest. It is easier to stumble upon them while gliding from any spire/tower though.

I'll try to pinpoint the cause or steps to reproduce this issue in the following days. I'll keep you posted.

Thank you,

RuinR

Hello RuinR,

Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the extended wait. After a thorough investigation, we were unable to replicate the specific artifact issue you mentioned. However, we did encounter a different artifact related to the missing fire. We are pleased to inform you that this issue has been resolved with the latest game update 0.7.3.0 and Arc driver 101.5762.

We recommend updating the game software and letting us know if you continue to experience any problems. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out.
