Intel ARC A770 - games crashing

Hi,

Not happy with my new graphic card from Intel. I hoped this would be an upgrade from my Geforce GTX 970. It should be right.

So far Call of duty warzone 2.0 crashes, Hitman 3 crashes.

Only game that can run is World of warcraft.

Arc control says the Resizeble BAR is not active, but it is in the BIOS. Says that after last driver update.

My hardware is:

ASUS Rog Strix B450-F Gaming
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X

16 GB RAM

I'm also in contact with Acvitivsion about COD Warzone 2.0, but have not find the cause yet.

Hi,

Turned off DOCP (XMP)

Did scan with memtest86, 0 errors

Crystaldiskinfo seems fine.

Games still crashing.

Took out my ARC A770 and replaced it with AMD Radeon RX 570.

Games run without crashing.

Hello Zailenser

I appreciate your patience. We are still working on this issue and suspect it might be related to a problem we are already investigating in which the DirectX-level support is missing from OS. Due to this, we would like to ask you for a couple more log files from your system. Please do the following:

1.-For both of the games, please run the game, and once they crash gather the log file from the Dxdiag tool following the instruction in this article:

How to Extract Information from the DirectX* Diagnostic Tool

Please gather one log file after each game crashes.

2.-Once the above log files are saved, restart your system. Once the system is back on, run the Intel® System Support Utility, ensuring all the checkboxes are ticked, including Third-party logs.

Hello Hugo

I just bought the ARCA770 16 GB limited edition

But
I also have a similar problem, but in my case, the games don't even load, they try to load for 3 seconds and the window closes, in the case of warzone 2.0, it freezes on the initial loading screen and doesnt load.

I have already reinstalled drivers 101.4125 , 101.4257, 101.4255 and 101.4257, but none of them fix it.

Can you help me please?

Regards

Guess I will do the same if Intel can't fix this problem.
I have Geforce 970 GTX and RX 570 and these run the games all fine. So it can't be my hardware. Even upgraded to a bigger PSU.

I have the same problem. Try to turn ON the Drive Boost in the Intel Arc Control software. Looks like it solve the crashing...

Giving up on this. I returned the card to the store I bought it from and going for a Geforce 4070. Hopefully this solves the problem.

Thanks Hugo for all the help.

Hey Zail,

Man, I feel your pain when it comes to this card and I was happy that you put work into troubleshooting this card.  I bought the Bifrost Edition which is awesome looking and I really thought it would get over the Intel hump a bit more.

Unfortunately, I was also facing a lot of these issues with Returnal. Returnal is a game that I play alot of and I use it as my base benchmark for any test.

I wanted to add my input to this case as well and share my experience with the constant crashing of the A770 and how I attempted to troubleshoot this issue particularly with Returnal.

- Upon 1st installation of the GPU's drivers alongside a clean reboot I was able to play Returnal using the highest settings possible.

- I played about 1 hour with no issues at all and assumed that the GPU was just a champ. So after being done for the day, I shut down.

Here's where the problems started.....

- the next day when i booted up and tried to run Returnal, it crashed immediately after loading into gameplay.

- so i attempted to boot up again and to no avail.

- seeing as how I couldnt run Returnal again, i decided to test The Last of Us and that game seem to work fine....(aside from the terribly optimized loading times by the developer, hence using Returnal as a reference for its super speedy load times)

- after loading TLOU, i decided to try Returnal again but it still failed.

- I then decided to reinstall the drivers in combination with using DDU to uninstall old drivers.

- once everything was clear and the intel drivers had a clean installation I booted up Returnal again and it worked......on first load up

- i thought the drivers were fixed as I began to play for about 30 minutes no issue.

- similarly to the first go around, when i shut down the computer and loaded back up Returnal, the A770 no longer worked and the

cycle continued. (kinda ironic to Returnal lol)

Having discovered this, I decided to test another rig that I have with the A770 to see if my PSU was the culprit.

The big thing to note here is that, even with the recommend PSU that the card suggests, I still ran into the same loop of steps as mentioned above.

In a nutshell, first installation was great, but any attempt to play after shutdown or restarts after the first shutdown resulted in a immediate crash to desktop.

A small note is that I ended using both my RTX 3060 and my RX580 in each of there prospective rigs and they immediately showed all success on any attemp to play.

Needless to say but regrettablly, I returned my A770 and will stick it out with my current cards until the next attempt.

If there is anyone out there that knows a fix for this, perhaps they can suggest a method to the other A770 users out there.
I do think it's important to keep these conversations going because Intel is right on the cusp of providing consumers a way to combat NGreedia's monopoly

I'm still rooting for Intel and hopefully there next round of GPU's are more successful and stable!
