Intel Arc A750 – Low GPU Usage in GTA V Enhanced Edition

Dear Intel Team,

Since the day I bought my PC, I've been facing low GPU utilization while playing GTA V Enhanced Edition using my Intel Arc A750 graphics card. The GPU usage stays around 50–60%, and even when I set frame scaling to 1.750, it barely reaches 90%, with FPS still locked around 60.

All in-game settings are set to Very High. I’ve reinstalled the game 3 times, set the process priority to high, enabled high performance mode in Windows graphics settings, disabled V-Sync, removed FPS caps, and ensured my drivers are up to date — but nothing changes.

My system is more than capable of running this game at 100–120 FPS, yet the GPU doesn’t seem to be fully utilized. This is especially frustrating with older games like GTA V.

Is there any fix, setting adjustment, or upcoming driver optimization planned to address this issue?

My System Specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-12100F
  • RAM: 16 GB DDR4
  • GPU: Intel Arc A750
  • Driver Version: 32.0.101.6734 (WHQL Certified)
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit

Thank you,
Lowroen

Hi Archie,

Thank you very much for your quick response and support. Please find the requested information below:

  • Motherboard Brand/Model: MSI PRO H610M-E DDR4
  • Is the issue only with GTA V?: The main issue occurs with GTA V Enhanced Edition. However, I’ve also noticed similar low GPU usage in some older games as well.
  • Did you use DDU for a clean install?: Yes, I completely removed all previous drivers using DDU and freshly installed the 32.0.101.6734 WHQL version.
  • Have you tried changing graphics settings?: I tried various combinations like medium, high, and very high settings. I also adjusted resolution and frame scaling ratio, but there was no significant increase in GPU usage.
  • Have you verified or reinstalled the game?: Yes, I verified the game files and have reinstalled the game three times in total.
  • When did the issue start?: The problem has existed since I first built the PC. It wasn’t triggered by any particular driver update or game patch.
  • Game Platform: Downloaded via Epic Games Store.
  • Additional Observation: Interestingly, GPU usage and FPS are stable and high in enclosed areas like interiors or underwater. However, when in open-world areas (e.g., city or countryside), GPU usage drops significantly and FPS is locked around 60–70.

Additionally, I have attached the SSU-generated system report file to this message.

Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,
Lowroen

Hi Archie,

Thank you again for your continued support.

As requested, I have attached the CapFrameX log file to this message. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a screenshot of the in-game settings and I cannot access the game at the moment. However, I can describe the settings I used:

  • All graphics settings were set to Very High, which are the highest possible options for the game.
  • Ray Tracing (RT) was disabled.
  • Sampling was set to TAA and 1x.
  • Frame Scaling Mode was set to 1.250x.

Let me know if anything else is required. I’m looking forward to your analysis.

Best regards,
Lowroen

Hi Archie,

Thank you for your email. I’ve seen your message, but I’d prefer not to share my screen at this time.

I’m currently using an Intel Core i3-12100F processor with my Arc A750 GPU, and I’m wondering if the issue might be related to CPU limitations. When I check benchmark or gameplay videos for similar setups, most users seem to have at least an i5-12400F or higher.

In my case, CPU usage often spikes and even exceeds GPU usage, especially in open-world games like GTA V, RDR2, and Cyberpunk 2077. Could this be a possible reason for the low GPU utilization and FPS drops I’m experiencing?

If so, I’m considering upgrading my CPU during the summer once school is out and I’ve saved up some money. If you have any CPU recommendations that pair well with the Arc A750, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards,
Lowroen

Hi Lowroen,

I would like to recommend first updating the driver version to 32.0.101.6790 to test if the issue with the open world areas still exist. Once done, please attach another SSU log.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hi Archie,

I have updated the driver to version 32.0.101.6790 as you recommended. Unfortunately, the situation remains the same. As you can see in the screenshot I provided earlier, the GPU usage still does not go above ~90%, and FPS remains around 60–70.

In my opinion, if the GPU could be fully utilized (close to 99%), the FPS would increase significantly. However, something seems to be limiting the GPU usage in open-world areas.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can try or if it could be CPU-related (I’m using an i3 12100F). I’m open to upgrading in the future if that’s the bottleneck.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Best regards,
Lowroen

Hi Lowroen,

We are currently working on replicating the issue you reported using our Intel® Arc™ A750 Graphics. During our tests, using the game settings you mentioned (set to high and ultra) and our graphics driver versions 32.0.101.6790 (latest) and 32.0.101.6734, we observed performance differences based on whether Resizable BAR (rebar) is enabled or disabled.

With rebar enabled, we achieved an average of 115 to 120.9 FPS, whereas with rebar disabled, the FPS ranged from 78.3 to 91.7. This indicates that enabling rebar can significantly improve performance.

We kindly ask you to check if Resizable BAR is enabled in your BIOS settings. For guidance, you can refer to this MSI link: https://www.msi.com/blog/unlock-system-performance-to-extreme-resizable-bar.

Additionally, we highly recommend enabling rebar when using our graphics card, as it can enhance system performance. For more information, please refer to our article What Is Resizable BAR and How Do I Enable It?

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hi Archie,

Thank you again for the ongoing support.

As you suggested, I checked the Resizable BAR setting, and it was already enabled. However, I disabled it temporarily to test the difference. With Resizable BAR disabled, I still got around 60–70 FPS, but the game experienced frequent stutters and freezes. After re-enabling Resizable BAR, the FPS remained around 70, but the stutters and freezes were gone. So Resizable BAR improves stability, but the low GPU usage and FPS issue in open-world areas still persists.

I would like to ask something specific:
I’m currently using an Intel Core i3-12100F with an Arc A750 GPU. Could my CPU be the bottleneck in games like GTA V, RDR2, and Cyberpunk 2077 where the CPU usage spikes in open-world areas while GPU usage drops?

I’ve noticed that most benchmark videos use at least an i5-12400F.
If I upgrade to that CPU, do you think it would solve this bottleneck and allow the GPU to reach higher usage and FPS?

I’d really appreciate your opinion on this.

Best regards,
Lowroen
