Hello!
Just Cause 3, Just Cause 4, PUBG, Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, GTA V and Death Stranding DC all suffer from these fps drops in certain locations in game. These locations are often those with higher geometry. FPS goes from around 150 down to under 80 and sometimes even under 50!
All games are running on steam with the highest graphics options. I have tried changing the graphics but there is no difference anyway
Checking CapFrameX I noticed that REBAR is "partial". Is this the source of the problem?
Attaching screenshots for so many games is difficult but I will attach a few.
I am running the latest WHQL driver 5445. I have removed and reinstalled drivers multiple times with DDU to no avail.
I have attached an SSU report and while i wanted to attach capframe data as well, i cant get it to create the user configuration folder.
I hope you can help me troubleshoot this problem.
Thank you

Hello The7uphero,
Thank you for posting in our communities.
May we know if the issue started the first time that you played those games that are having an issue?
Furthermore, have you already enabled your Resizable bar? If not, please enable it, as it enhances the Arc graphics performance.
And also, have you tried our new release driver: 31.0.101.5518? Please install it and check if your system's performance will improve.
For your reference, you may also check out this article: Lag and Low FPS Performance while Playing Games Using Intel® Arc™ Graphics
Please let us know the results.

Hey there!
I can confirm that ReBar is indeed enabled and as i have mentioned in my inital post, when checking with capframex, rebar shows up as partial, as in disabled for vulkan. Regardless of this, performance in vulkan games is phenomenal. I have no complaints with that.
Yes the fps drops happened the first time i played the games and is still continuing to happen. Yes my motherboard does indeed support Rebar even though that article mentions a 500 series required and is running the latest version of BIOS.
I will try out the new driver and tell you my observations.

Hey there!
After my testing, I can positively say that fps does NOT drop as much as it used to before. Really, it is impressive. The newest driver definitely did some magic. However, the fps still drops to the low 50's and if i stop moving and stay there for a bit, the fps levels out and goes up to 60. Also, GPU usage just never goes above 70 percent while playing gtav, horizon zero dawn, just cause 3 and death stranding. It does go above 80 and even 90 in other games, just cause 4, rdr2, control.
Just cause 3 and death stranding seem to be affected the worst by this hidden fps drop curse with 30's ad 40's being common and fps rarely going above 60. I'm sure this can be fixed if the gpu did just a bit more work.
And oh! somehow resizeable bar is fully on now!
I really have no idea what caused this, maybe me tampering with the bios, or me turning off virtualization. Either way, it might be that resizeable bar being fully on may have partially fixed this problem.
Now, I must also report that performance in pubg dx12 has dropped quite significantly from previously 180fps to now around 120. They recently updated the game and may have messed up something so i dont know if you guys can do something about it. Pubg dx11 is straight up unplayable with fps going down to the low 40s while in big settlements. This fps drop exists in dx12 mode as well, although not to such a degree. It mostly stays above 90 fps at all times.
If there is anything else i can or must do to even out performance across the board, please do tell.

Hi there! The latest driver does seem to have fixed a lot of problems but a few still remain. This area in Grand Theft Auto V is one of few others where the fps drops to the low 50's. The game is running on an HDD although i believe that has nothing to do with fps drops.
The newly released ghost of tsushima was performing very badly until driver 5522 after which it is performing really really well. but then again there exist very few places in the game where geometry is probably too much(?) or some such where fps drops into the 50's. One such area is during the tale of ryuzo where we need to infiltrate a mongol base to light the brazier of the watchtower.
Just Cause 4 seems to be fixed altogether with fps remaining fairly constant except when multiple large explosions are happening on screen simultaneously where fps does drop into the 50's.
From my testing to this point, no game has dropped into the 40's yet, bar Just Cause 3 and Death Stranding, the latter of which has very unpredictable performance. I have no idea why fps in that game drops as it seems to plummet for no reason while flying over a meadow or a valley that i have flown over multiple times before.
Death Stranding is performing badly ever since i started playing it on my system and is still performing exactly the same. Fps drops to 25 very often in those bunker areas and xess does nothing to alleviate it.
GTAV- Epic Games, Ghost of Tsushima- Epic Games, Just Cause 4- Steam, Just Cause 3- Steam, Death Stranding- Steam.
Thank you very much for the new driver and please do tell me if i need to send more log files or anything else.
Best Regards,

Hi!
I use ultra graphics in all games I play and my monitor's resolution is 1920x1080 at 120hz. I try to make all games run in borderless windowed mode and i never use vsync.

Hello all, just wanted to let you know that I have submitted a ticket to our developers for the FPS drops in GTA V. As soon as I have news about this I'll be sharing them.
For the other titles reported in this post, please create a new post for each of them with specifics about the behavior, graphics settings, system configuration (SSU report), etc. We have a pinned post at the top of this forum with suggestions about how to report game issues.

Hi there!
I've been testing the enhanced version of gta 5 for the past couple days and with raytracing off, it runs completely fine. No issues at all.
However as soon as raytracing is turned on, performance falls drastically. Ray traced shadows seem to have the highest performance hit. And they look quite bad as well, so i recommend playing with them off. I have them off too.
RTGI makes the game look really pretty and doesnt hurt performance "much", but it is still quite bad. The lack of xess as an upscaler is disappointing as well. FSR3 "needs" to be turned on if you want to have an 60 fps+ experience at all times, even with RTGI alone.
RT reflections are fundamentally broken at this point so i cant comment on them but RT reflections have close to no real effect on how the game looks except for being able to see your character in store window reflections. For now, car reflections and water reflections are really broken and the only case where RT reflections look pretty is in that very limited city area where there are a lot of neon signs.
RTAO has almost the same performance hit as RTGI and honestly combined with RTGI makes the game look really good. Then again, this makes the game run at mostly below 40 fps and turning on FSR ruins everything.
Note that RT settings have been tested with all other base settings at their highest possible value with post processing at minimum.
The extra shadows distance and extra distance scaling option dont have much effect on performance when playing without RT but with RT they slice off about 6-7 fps.
Thats about it for my observations. Battleye is a real pain coz its not letting me play properly. It gives a kernel heap BSOD. I've had 4 of those in these 2 days. It also doesnt let me record footage to show you guys and capframex makes the game crash all the time.
My recommendations would be to add xess support asap and if possible and fixable, fix the RT performance on Alchemist.
It is to be noted that the 40fps performance is consistent regardless of gpu usage when RT is on. At 71% usage, the fps is still close to 40 and at 99% even more so. This is similar to the issues i had reported earlier with the legacy version where certain places in the map would have bad performance for some reason. This time it appears to be due to foliage, i.e. lots of trees around mount chiliad and other areas.
Please do not hesitate to ask for any more details you would like.
Best regards,
The7uphero
PS: I've added an SSU report for your convenience.

Hi! thanks for this thorough description. Could you please share a screenshot of the map where the FPS drops occur? This way I can go there and focus on the differences between this and other areas. And yes, anti-cheat software can make it difficult to root cause issues.
Regarding XeSS implementation, it is entirely up to them to include such feature in their titles as they need to change the code of the game. Rest assure we are encouraging developers to adopt this technology and doing what is in our hands to make it happen.

Hi there!
Thanks for your quick response.
Picture 1: Near Franklin's house, merely looking around causes fps to drop below 50's, with gpu usage near 70-80%.
Picture 2: This spot on the map looking exactly in the direction the arrow is pointing leads to near 40 fps with the usual 70-75% gpu usage.
Picture 3: This place on the map where looking that very specific direction leads to perfect performance.
Driving around that general area has a nearly 30-40% variance in fps and gpu usage, both. This is basically the same as it was with the legacy version too. I've reported the same problems long ago in this thread.
Picture of graphical settings:
I assume expecting the A770 to perform fairly decently on 1080p locked to 60fps isn't much to ask right?
Please let me know if you need any more information from me.
Best regards,
The7uphero
