Does your system meet the game’s minimum system requirements?

Absolutely.

Did you already installed the Intel Graphics Driver latest release found at Intel® Graphics – Windows* DCH Drivers?

I have tried this with both the latest driver and the latest beta driver.

Please provide your system information by attaching the following file:

1.      Download the System Support Utility tool to the system where the issue occurred.

2.      Run SSU.exe. Select "Everything". Then click Scan.

3.      Save the data to the text file and attach it to this report.

Done!

Please describe your issue as accurately as possible.

Starting a new campaign will either result in a crash to desktop when the pre campaign loading screen is almost complete or in the few occasions it works the game will have set it's quality to low as it detects low GPU memory. This occurs even when using the "Unlimited GPU memory"option they have.

What distribution service did you get the game from?

(example: Steam / Origin / Epic / XboxGamePass / UbisoftConnect)

Steam

Please provide the game's graphic/video settings when the issue occurs.

Graphic Quality: Ultra

Resolution: Various

Vsync: Both on and off

Display: This happened in all of the following: (Fullscreen / Windowed/ Borderless Windowed):

Please let us know which game API was been used when the issue occurred

(examples: Vulkan, DX11, DX12, OpenGL, etc...)

DX11

Is the power cable plugged in or not?

(running on AC power or Battery?)

Plugged In

Please provide steps to replicate the issue.

These steps are very crucial to finding the root cause and fix.
A screenshot to illustrate the issue is a huge plus. A video of the failure is even better! Attach to the post or provide the YouTube link.

1. Launch Game

2. Create a new campaign with any lord

3. Wait for loading

4. Observe Crash or settings set to low

Cheers! I posted a similar report to the CA forums and another person who had the identical issue had an arc GPU.

Hello Charkomangus,

We appreciate your patience.

We would like to let you know that we are working on a fix for this issue; the driver developer team is working under bug ID 16017953715. We need more time as further improvements for DX11 titles are on their way, unfortunately; we can't commit to an estimated time.

Since this requires more effort from us and to void duplicate efforts, we are considering closing this thread; however, we want to confirm if you agree to close the thread.

Best regards,

Jean O.

Is there any way to check progress or see if a future patch contains a fix for 16017953715?

Regardless, feel free to close the thread, I'm just glad it'll be looked at.

Hello Charkomangus,

Before closing the thread, we would like to confirm that; as we previously mentioned, the best way is to look at the driver's Release Notes, as they would highlight the fixes included. However, not all the fixes are listed though, so just keep the drivers up to date, and with Intel DSA installed, you can get the drivers as they are released.

We will now close this thread. If you need additional information, submit a new question since this thread will no longer be monitored.

Best regards.

I've been trying to reply for ages but this website is...peculiar.

Driver Release Notes mention nothing useful however I was able to fix it (and others issue). Turns out we all somehow had extremely low virtual memory (paging size) set and that was making applications misbehave. I am not sure if it was part of the GPU installation but I know I didn't change it.

Go ahead and close the thread but for anyone who has similar problem

  1. Type performance in the start menu.
  2. Choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
  3. In the new window, go to the Advanced tab and under the Virtual memory section, click on Change.
  4. At the bottom of the new window, check what the Recommended value is and how it compares to Currently allocated.
  5. If the current setting is significantly less than the recommended, uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives box at the top of the same windows and then click on Custom size.
  6. Enter the Recommended value in the Initial Size box, and a larger figure in the Maximum size box.
  7. Click OK to save the new settings.
