Hello flextape
Thank you for posting on the Intel® ARC™ Graphics Communities. I am sorry you are experiencing crashes when trying to install the driver for your Intel® Arc™ A770 Graphics.
Please make sure that the GPU is properly connected to the PCIE slot and that the power cables are properly connected as well, once you have verified the connections, let's try to install the latest driver version 31.0.101.0.4335 using Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode.
If the issue persists, please create a log file with the Intel® System Support Utility and attach it to your response in order to get the hardware and system configurations.
Best Regards,
Hugo O.

Which driver are you trying to load?
Search out my various post on driver installation issues with A770.
Initially the only way for me to install drivers was by extracting the files and then manually doing the driver install.
There is also a video of what would happen prior to the crash.

Hello flextape
Before trying to extract the .zip file from the driver, please let's first try the troubleshooting steps provided in my first post.
We will need the log file from the Intel® System Support Utility to get the system information, make sure to follow the instructions as they appear in the article, you do not have to use the submit option, instead, use the save option to save the file on your system and then attach it to your response.
Also, make sure to use Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode, as the system should not crash in safe mode, and try installing the latest driver 31.0.101.4335.
Best Regards,
