Arc B580 GPU issue on Davinci Resolve Studio

Hii. Yesterday, I bought an Arc B580 GPU. Before that I used to use Arc A380. For the type of my job, I need to use the “Detect Scene Cut” on Davinci Resolve a lot. While using Arc A380, I used to get 240 fps on average. But now with Arc B580, I’m only getting 90-100 fps on average while using scene cut. I’ve updated the driver, so what could be the issue? Anybody here has any idea?

Hello shoaibramim,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

To address the issue properly, kindly provide the information below.

1. Does the performance difference occur in other applications, or just DaVinci Resolve?

2. Did you perform a clean driver installation when switching from A380 to B580, or just swap the cards?

3. Are you using ReBAR?

4. Are you experiencing the issue only when using "Detect Scene Cut"?

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate a complete copy of the System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I look forward to your response.

Best regards

Hi Jed, Thank you very much for responding.
Below I've given all the answers of your questions.

  1. Question: Does the performance difference occur in other applications, or just DaVinci Resolve?
Answer: No. Other software are working properly. Even rendering in Davinci Resolve is faster than my previous ones.
  2. Question: Did you perform a clean driver installation when switching from A380 to B580, or just swap the cards?
Answer: Yes, I've performed a clean installation of driver after replacing the card. There was an update remaining. After replacing the graphics card, I've downloaded the update and checked the clean installation option while updating the driver.
  3. Question: Are you using ReBAR?
Answer: Yes. I've enabled Resizable Bar.
  4. Question: Are you experiencing the issue only when using "Detect Scene Cut"?
Answer: Yes. It's happening only in the "Detect Scene Cut" feature. I've rendered a previous project which took more than 2minutes using Arc A380, took only 36 seconds using Arc B580. Also, after Scene cutting, I've tested "Render in Place", average framerate using B580 was 350-400 fps which was roughly 240 fps on average using A380. So, the issue is only with "Detect Scene Cut" in Davinci Resolve.

Finally, I've attached the scanned report of my system as you've requested.

I need one more information, what is the standard temperature I should maintain to get the best output of this graphics card paired with Ryzen 5 5600? Currently, my system has only 2 case cooling fan, and the average temperature with minimal workload is 55 degree, but when I try to utilize the full potential of the card, it crosses 71 degrees. Also, it's winter here now, so the room temperature will rise from roughly 23 degrees to 30-35 degrees in summer season.

Hello shoaibramim,

Thank you for sharing all the information so far. Since the issue appears to be isolated to DaVinci Resolve and its “Detect Scene Cut” feature, we’d like to attempt reproducing it in our test lab.

To ensure we can replicate the problem accurately, could you please provide the detailed steps you follow when the issue occurs, along with a screenshot of your application settings? This will help us better understand the environment and proceed effectively.

Additionally, please try to update your BIOS to the latest version here: B550M DS3H

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards

Hi Jed, thanks for the heads-up, I'm gonna update my bios right away.

Meanwhile, below are the additional information you asked for:

To reproduce the specific situation, import any video file in the media pool, select the video and click on the "Timeline" on top navigation bar. There, you'll find the option "Detect Scene Cut", click it and that'll start cutting the video automatically. You'll see the fps speed on the screen, that's it.

Below, I've attached a screenshot where I made minimal changes in the "memory and GPU configuration". Other settings are kept as it was by default.

Kindly let me know whenever you get any update on the issue.
