Hey! I purchased an Acer Intel Arc B580 card that came with the 2025 Holiday Bundle and I am not able to redeem it.
I am using the latest Linux Mint for my OS and I click the Linux link (x64) in the "Purchase Verification" but I cannot get past the "Intel Hardware Scanning Tool". in the CPU/GPU verification section. The file keeps getting an error code.
The HST file states: The file you opened has some invalid characters. If you continue editing this file you could corrupt this document.
You can also choose another character encoding and try again.
Then the verify page shows:
Does anyone know how to get this to work or skip this step and maybe use a receipt instead?
I'm stuck here, but would like to download my game.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @ranf1970,
Thank you for posting in the community.
For clarification, are you trying to redeem a gaming bundle? If yes, which game?
- Have you contacted the place of purchase for instructions on how to redeem the game?
- Can you provide any error messages you receive when attempting to redeem?
- Did you receive any email, notification, or activation key to claim the game?
Please note that Intel does not officially release keys for promotional bundles. These are typically handled by the retailer or the Software Advantage Program team if this is indeed a gaming bundle.
Looking forward to your response.
Best regards,

Hey Randy,
Thank you for your response. I have the instructions, key and everything else. These are not the issue.
When I logged into Intel's site to redeem the offer, one of the steps before I can get to the loading up of the proof of purchase and the code for the game is that the Intel Hardware Scanning Tool asks to scan the computer. However, since I am using Linux Mint (x64), I clicked on the x64 link in the previous page where it states that if you are using Linux x64. click here.
After clicking this, the HST download starts and then I get this error:
The file you opened has some invalid characters. If you continue editing this file you could corrupt this document.
You can also choose another character encoding and try again.
Since this is not successful, the Scanning Tool tells me:
Unable to find computer information. Please contact support.
It stops there and I can't go forward.
I was hoping to claim either Battlefield 6 or Assassins Creed Shadows. I have not decided yet.
Thanks again I appreciate any information that you can provide!

Hi @ranf1970,
Please Contact the Software Advantage Program team and submit a ticket by filling out this form.
Program support is normally available Monday-Friday 9am-5pm USA Pacific Time. Support request will be answered within 1-2 business days. However, during times of higher ticket volume, it may take up to 3-4 business days to contact you.
I suspect this may be related to operating system compatibility. As you know, on the Linux kernel side, we officially support only Ubuntu, which could be the reason for this issue. However, for accurate guidance, it’s best to contact the respective team. I found an article in their portal FAQs that might help, please see below.
I received an "Unable to Find Computer" message – Software Advantage Program Support Center
