Intel Arc B580 GPU

I am using an Intel Arc B580 GPU with driver version 32.0.101.8425.
When the system is idle, the GPU usage suddenly spikes up to 100% and then drops repeatedly, even though no applications or games are running.

Hello rady,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

I understand that you're experiencing GPU usage that spikes up to 100% and then drops repeatedly when system is in idle state (no applications or games running). To better understand and isolate the root cause, I analyzed the SSU log file you shared and found out that the current BIOS firmware is outdated by 8 versions.

I recommend the following steps to resolve the GPU usage spikes:

  1. Contact your OEM support to get assistance with updating the BIOS to the latest non-BETA firmware version [7E30v1C] (critical update)
  2. Apply recommended BIOS settings after BIOS update while you are with the OEM support, so they can guide you to locate the specific fields that need to be setup correctly.
  3. Perform a clean installation of the latest driver (32.0.101.8425) using DDU in safe mode.

If the issue persists after completing these steps, please submit a new SSU log file that will be used for further analysis and troubleshooting.

The BIOS update and proper settings configuration often resolve unexpected GPU behavior and usage spikes during idle states.

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.
