Steam Client Update, December 19

Windows 11 and 64-bit Windows 10 now use the 64-bit version of the Steam client.

The 32-bit version of the client on 32-bit versions of Windows will continue to receive updates until January 1, 2026.

After the Steam client transitioned to 64-bit

When pressing the Shift and Tab keys during online games, in my case Team Fortress 2 or Counter Strike 2, the image starts to freeze and sometimes flickers.

(This happened before on the 32-bit client, but it wasn't as noticeable.)

Hello gasoline,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

To address the issue effectively, please share the information below.

1. Does the freezing/flickering happen immediately when pressing Shift+Tab or after a delay?

2. How long do the freezes last, and do they resolve on their own?

3. Does this issue occur in both TF2 and CS2, or other games as well?

4. What graphics settings are you using in these games (resolution, fullscreen/windowed mode, etc.)?

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate a complete copy of the System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I look forward to your response.

Best regards

1. Freezing and flickering appear immediately.
2. Until you press Shift + Tab again.
3. In other games too. It's especially noticeable in games with background movement, such as online shooters. Freezing also occurs in It Takes Two, for example.
4. In TF2, the graphics settings are set to maximum, with a fullscreen mode of 2560x1440 and a 170Hz DisplayPort cable connection.
In CS2, the graphics settings are set to medium, with a fullscreen mode of 2560x1440 and a 170Hz DisplayPort cable connection.
It Takes Two, the graphics settings are set to maximum, with a fullscreen mode of 2560x1440 and a 170Hz DisplayPort cable connection. I don't think it depends on the graphics settings, TF2 is not a very demanding game, but often when you press Shift+Tab, the game freezes completely, for 30 seconds or more, then freezes a little and freezes again until you press Shift+Tab again (sometimes, very often, there is no reaction to this press when it freezes)

I decided to add some information.
This happens during the game itself, after you connect to the server. If you're using TF2, you need to do the following: connect to any server with players, select the player class you want, appear at the spawn point, press and hold Tab, right-click, select any player, click on them, and choose "View Steam Profile."
Alternatively, simply pressing Shift+Tab may not freeze the game.
You can do the same with CS 2 by joining a server, pressing Tab, and then viewing the Steam profile of any player on that server.

This is most noticeable when viewing another player's Steam profile while you're on a server in one of these online games.

Hello gasoline,

Thank you again for the detailed report and steps you provided. I have a couple of additional questions: Have you noticed whether the lag is affected by enabling or disabling Resizable BAR or Above 4G Decoding in your BIOS? Additionally, I kindly request that you provide CapFrameX data for this game. This will allow us to analyze performance metrics more thoroughly and help identify any potential issues. If possible, please share a CapFrameX file that captures at least 2–5 minutes of gameplay.

Best regards

Hi
I'm attaching four capture files from two games: TF2 and CS2.

Resizable BAR or Above 4G Decoding Switching these settings does not change anything.

Hello gasoline,

Thank you for providing the CapFrameX data. Please be informed that we can only support one game per thread, as this allows us to offer more accurate and focused troubleshooting. Could you please let me know which game you would like us to focus on for this thread? Once you decide, kindly share a screenshot of the game settings as well.

I look forward to your response.

Best regards

Hi JedG_Intel
This isn't a specific game issue, but rather the Steam client lagging when I press Shift+Tab.

Let's take the game TF2

Below I have attached screenshots of the game settings:

Hello, Intel!
I updated my motherboard BIOS to the latest available version: 7D76vAN5 (beta).
I also installed your new drivers: Intel Graphics Drivers 101.8509 WHQL.

I updated my Windows 11 Pro 25H2
Build: 26200.7840

And nothing changed.
