Hi!

So I've been trying to play Minecraft since i got my Arc B580, but i've always been getting performance WAY lower than what I got previously, and it does not make any sense. I'm providing my video settings along with my latest.log file and a Capframe Log along with my most recent SSU log. Let me know if you guys need anything else.

Hi Argent_Moon,

Thank you for posting in our Community and for providing the logs and performance data. Let’s work together to get to the bottom of this. Before we proceed, I’d like to gather a bit more information to help us narrow down the cause:

  • Were there any recent hardware or software changes made before the performance issue occurred?
  • Are you running the Java Edition or Bedrock Edition of Minecraft? Also, are there any mods, shaders, or resource packs currently in use? These can significantly affect performance.
  • Was Minecraft installed via the Microsoft Store, Launcher, or a third-party platform (like CurseForge or Prism)?
  • If you've performed any other tests, please provide the details so we can avoid going over the same steps again.

Additionally, I reviewed the CapFrameX data you shared, and it appears that the captured session only includes about 2 minutes and 59.7 seconds of gameplay. Could you kindly provide a new CapFrameX capture that records at least 3 to 5 minutes of gameplay for a more accurate analysis?

Have a nice day!

Hi Von! Nice to see you again!

No, there haven't been any recent software or hardware changes. When i refer to the higher performance, I am referring to the performance I was getting on my Radeon RX 6650 XT. Nothing has changed since besides changing from that card to the Arc B580.

I am running the Java Version of Minecraft, and my current mods are included in my latest.log file, but I will provide screenshots of my modlist through Prism just in case. I am also using Solas Shaders and Vanilla Tweaks for my shader and resource packs specifically.

Minecraft was installed through Prism, as modding through it is much easier compared to the Minecraft Launcher.

As for any other tests, besides the Capframe one, no.

Thank you so much for helping, Von, I hope we can get this solved so others who have Arc Cards can enjoy Minecraft to the fullest.

-Luna

Added note after performing the Capframe test again for 4 minutes, those are some jagged ass peaks on the FPS graph. No wonder it feels so terrible.

Hello Argent_Moon,

Thank you for sharing your detailed logs and for your continued cooperation. Upon reviewing the CapFrameX results, both recordings appear to be smooth overall, though they do show a difference in average FPS. To help me narrow this down further, could you please confirm whether you’re experiencing consistently low FPS or sudden FPS drops during gameplay? This will help me better identify the nature of the issue. Additionally, may I ask if you’ve tried running the game using the original Minecraft Launcher (instead of Prism or other modded launchers) to see if the issue persists? It would also be helpful to temporarily remove any installed mods or shaders and check if performance improves.

I also recommend installing the latest Intel Graphics Driver (version 32.0.101.8136), which includes several optimizations and fixes that may improve game performance. Once updated, please share your current in-game video settings (resolution, graphics quality, VSync, shaders, etc.) so I can further analyze the results.

I truly appreciate your time and effort in helping me troubleshoot this issue, and I'm committed to finding the best possible resolution for you.

Best regards,

Hi Von!

Sorry for the lack of response, Life got really hectic.

I have updated to 8136, and performance has improved a little bit, but not enough. I am attaching my settings. Unfortunately I am not able to screenshot my shader settings, as Minecraft does not cooperate with Print Screen, but I am using Solas Shaders at the default High Setting, nothing else changed.

I have tested on both Vanilla 1.20.1 via the Minecraft Launcher and modded via Prism, same setup. Both with zero shaders. I have done a CapFrame recording for both for further analysis.

After my own analysis, it seems that Modded with no shaders ran better than Vanilla with no shaders, so whatever the issue is, it isn't based on the launcher it seems.

Hello Argent_Moon,

Thank you for getting back to me. No worries at all, I completely understand how things can get busy. I really appreciate the time you took to update the driver, share your settings, and even perform your own analysis with CapFrameX. It’s good to hear that performance improved slightly after updating to driver 32.0.101.8136.

Since you mentioned the results differ between Vanilla and Modded Minecraft, I’d like to confirm one detail just to narrow this down further, are you experiencing consistently low FPS or occasional FPS drops during gameplay? Your clarification will help me better determine if this is a performance consistency issue or something related to game optimization.

Hi Von!

Yeah, forgot to update on that. It's not really frames dropping that i'm noticing, but overall just consistently low fps, like struggling to get above 60-70fps and fluctuating when moving. Though that part is likely due to me still rocking a Ryzen 5 5600X. Overall, It's lower fps than what I got on my previous card, despite the B580 being faster, so it all points to a game optimization issue on the driver end, likely your drivers not coping well with OpenGL in general.

Thanks for your quick response,

Luna

Hello Argent_Moon,

Thank you for the update and for sharing those additional insights. It does sound like this may be related to game optimization or driver-level performance behavior, particularly with OpenGL workloads. I’ll need to conduct a bit more research and internal review regarding this behavior to ensure we provide the most accurate guidance. Once I have more information, I’ll post an update here in this thread to keep you informed of any findings or next steps.

Hello Argent_Moon,

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

For the next test, please ensure that both Riva Tuner Statistics Server and CapFrameX are completely closed and not running in the background. This will help eliminate any potential interference from third-party monitoring tools.

For performance monitoring during this test, you may use Minecraft’s built-in telemetry and performance statistics, including its native FPS counter.

Additionally, we’d like to set expectations that this test should be conducted using Vanilla Minecraft only, without any modifications or mods installed. This will help us assess the issue in a clean and controlled environment.

Please let us know the results after completing this test.

Hello Von,

Apologies for the lack of response once more, yet another chaotic week at work.

I am a little confused on the testing Randy wishes for me to do.

How would I activate Minecraft's built in telemetry and performance statistics on Vanilla Minecraft?

Best Wishes,

Luna

Hello Argent_Moon,

No worries at all. I completely understand how busy things can get, so no need to apologize. I appreciate you getting back to me and for your willingness to continue testing. Regarding your question, Minecraft’s built-in telemetry and performance statistics aren’t possibly directly accessible in the standard (Vanilla) version of the game. If Randy’s request refers to more detailed telemetry or diagnostic data beyond the debug screen, we may need to clarify what specific information is required or whether a monitoring tool (like Intel® PresentMon or a third-party FPS/telemetry overlay) should be used instead.

In the meantime, I will need to do further research on this matter and post the response on this thread once available.

Hello Argent_Moon,

I appreciate your patience in this matter. Regarding the telemetry and performance statistics, kindly follow the instructions below to help us verify the performance impact accurately:

  1. Close all background monitoring software:
    • Make sure that CapFrameX and RivaTuner Statistics are completely closed (not just minimized) before starting the test.
  2. Enable Minecraft's built-in FPS counter using this method:
    • While in-game, hold the F3 key and press F5
    • Navigate to the debug options menu
    • Set the FPS display option to "Always" (This feature is available in recent Minecraft versions, such as snapshot 25w31a for version 1.21.9.)
  3. Conduct the performance comparison:
    • Run Minecraft and monitor FPS performance
    • Then repeat the test with the monitoring software running to identify any performance impact

Once you’ve completed the tests, please share your results (FPS readings or observations) so I can proceed with the next steps in identifying the cause of the performance issue.

Hi!!

Finally got around to testing, I'm now on driver version 32.0.101.8250, and I tested on both a vanilla 1.20.1 installation, my modded 1.20.1 installation, and the latest snapshot as of time of writing.

One thing i noticed is that turning RTSS off (After having to kill MSI Afterburner as it kept auto-starting RTSS), the performance did increase quite a bit on the vanilla and modded 1.20.1 installations, with FPS numbers jumping from around 90 to 110, but Shaders on the modded barely improved. on the latest snapshot, with RTSS, it was getting around 100-110, but after turning RTSS off, it stayed around 120 (which was where vsync was), with stuttering when a bunch of new chunks were being loaded. That I can attribute to my Ryzen 5 5600X.

I hope this data helps,

Luna
