Hello lian1,
Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.
I understand that your Intel® Arc™ B580 freezes a few seconds after reaching the Windows lock screen during startup. You mentioned that the issue is temporarily resolved by booting into Safe Mode, using DDU, and reinstalling the Intel graphics driver, but the problem reappears the next day.
To help us investigate further, could you please provide the following information?
- When did the issue first start occurring?
- Did the issue begin after a driver update, Windows update, BIOS update, or hardware change?
- What is the make and wattage of your power supply (PSU)?
- Are you receiving any error messages, blue screens, or Event Viewer errors?
- Does the system freeze only at the lock screen, or does it also freeze after logging into Windows?
- Have you tested a previous graphics driver version? If so, what was the result?
- Does the issue occur every day or intermittently?
Additionally, please try the following recommendations:
- Configure the graphics card to operate at the full x16 PCI Express lane width.
- Ensure the system is running in UEFI mode rather than Legacy/CSM mode.
- Update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version available from your system or motherboard manufacturer.
- Install all available Windows updates.
Please also generate and share an Intel® System Support Utility (SSU) report:
For guidance on generating an Intel SSU report, please refer to:
How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*
Once I have the SSU report, I will review the information and continue investigating your case to provide the most appropriate recommendations.
Best regards,
Ramgound

Yes, I can confirm this issue. It is present with the following driver versions:
Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8861
Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8860 (WHQL Certified)
After booting into Safe Mode, using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the graphics driver, and then reinstalling the Intel Arc driver, Windows boots normally again. However, the problem always returns the next day after a normal shutdown and startup.
As a temporary workaround, I no longer use Shut Down. Instead, I keep the system in Sleep mode, which avoids the startup freeze.
The fan control and Tuning issues are also still present. I don't want the default Zero RPM fan mode. I set the minimum fan speed to around 25% (I'm not completely sure of the exact value because of another bug). After changing the fan settings, the Tuning tab eventually disappears, so I can't open it again to check or modify the settings. This consistently happens after waking the system from Sleep. I have attached screenshots showing the issue.
Regarding my system specifications, they are already available in the following posts. I will not create another thread because every time I report a problem, it appears to be fixed only temporarily with a new driver, then returns after a few restarts. Creating separate reports for the same system has not been helpful and only results in spending more time writing reports.
My system information is available here:
All of my system information is already included in those posts, and I would appreciate if this issue could be investigated without asking me to create another thread.

As @musmiwhb confirmed, it is pretty clearly a driver issue. A remote control support won't help me here and doing your recommendations will also not help me. Pls fix your driver's.

Hello lian1,
Thank you for your feedback.
We understand that you believe this is a graphics driver issue based on your testing and observations. However, before we can conclusively determine whether the behavior is driver-related, we would like to gather some additional information about the platform.
Additionally, we'd like to verify whether the system supports integrated graphics. If your processor includes integrated graphics and the motherboard provides display outputs for it, we recommend temporarily removing the Intel® Arc™ B580 and testing the system using the integrated graphics solution.
This information can help us better understand whether the behavior is isolated to the discrete graphics card or if there may be platform-related factors involved, such as BIOS or chipset power-management settings.
Please let us know:
- Exact motherboard model.
- Exact processor model.
- Whether integrated graphics is available and functional on the system.
- If available, any observations when operating the system without the Arc™ B580 installed.
Once we have this information, we can continue our investigation and provide further guidance.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Ramgound

ASRock b450m pro4
Ryzen 5 3600
No integrated graphics
I tried a earlier Intel arc driver from May and now it works again.
It is definitely an issue with these two versions:
Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8861
Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8860 (WHQL Certified)

Hello lian1,
Thank you for the update and for providing the additional system information.
We also appreciate you testing different driver versions and letting us know that the issue is no longer present after rolling back to an earlier Intel® Arc graphics driver from May. We have noted your observation that the behavior appears to occur specifically with:
- Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8860
- Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8861
and that the issue does not occur with the older driver version you tested.
At this point, I kindly request that you allow me some additional time while I review the details internally and investigate the behavior further. We would like to carefully assess the information you have provided and determine the appropriate next steps.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and for helping us narrow down the behavior through your testing. I will get back to you as soon as I have an update to share.
Best regards,
Ramgound

I'm joining this topic because I am experiencing the same issue.
I updated my Intel Arc B580 driver to 32.0.101.8861. After a shutdown/power-on cycle, Windows froze at the login screen. The login background and PIN prompt were visible, but the keyboard and mouse were not responsive.
Changing the monitor connection from the Intel Arc B580 to the motherboard video output allowed Windows to boot normally and access the desktop.
In Windows Device Manager → Display adapters, the Intel Arc B580 Graphics device showed a yellow warning icon indicating that Windows detected a problem with the device.
I performed a clean reinstall of Windows 11 Home and installed driver 32.0.101.8861 again. The system worked correctly, including gaming performance. However, after another shutdown/power-on cycle, the same issue returned.
Using the motherboard video output again, I opened Device Manager and uninstalled the Intel Arc B580 device completely. After that, Windows Update automatically installed:
Intel Corporation - Display - 32.0.101.8132
Driver date: September 2025
After installing 32.0.101.8132, the system was able to boot normally again with the Intel Arc B580.
System information:
- GPU: Intel Arc B580
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B850M-PLUS WIFI
- OS: Windows 11 Home
At this point it appears the issue is related to driver version 32.0.101.8861, as the problem reproduces after installing that driver and a restart/power cycle.

Just so you know the one from may 2026 also works fine so you don't have to use the one year old one.

Hello everyone,
I would like to provide an update regarding this issue.
I rolled back to Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8826 (WHQL Certified), and after doing so, the startup freezing issue no longer occurs. So far, the system has been booting normally.
Before rolling back, I recorded a video showing the startup freeze. I have attached the video to this post for reference.
I have also attached several screenshots showing the Tuning issue, where the Tuning page/controls disappear after some time, making it impossible to access or modify the fan settings.
Hopefully these attachments will help the Intel team reproduce and investigate both issues.

They are fixed temporarily, then return again in later driver versions or after a few restarts. It feels like the same bugs keep resurfacing instead of being permanently resolved.
I have also saved the Windows Event Viewer log and attached it as "Event Viewer.evtx" in case it helps with the investigation.
Thank you.

Hi everyone,
I just want to confirm, rolling back worked for me, I had the exact same issue and I tried rolling back to 32.0.101.8801 and it has been stable now, no more freezing.

Downgrading to 26 is the only stable solution. I've tested this on 2 computers which have the ARC B580 installed.

Hi everyone,
I'm having the exact same issue again with my Acer Nitro Intel Arc B580 graphics card. I experienced this back in 2025, and now it is happening again with the latest drivers.
The only thing that helps is booting into Safe Mode and completely removing the drivers using DDU.

That definitely sounds like a driver-related issue, especially since Safe Mode works and a clean DDU install temporarily resolves it.
A few things I'd check:
Make sure Windows Update isn't automatically replacing the Intel graphics driver after the reboot.
Try installing an older, known-stable Arc driver to see if the issue disappears.
Update your motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers if they're not current.
Check Event Viewer for display driver crashes (e.g., Display or LiveKernelEvent entries) around the time the system freezes.
If the problem consistently returns after a day, it could be Windows installing a different driver in the background or another software conflict. It would also help to know your CPU, motherboard model, Windows version, and the exact Arc driver version you're using.

That sounds more like a driver issue than a hardware problem. Maybe try an older Arc driver and see if it stays stable for a few days.
