Problems with Acer VG270P Monitor

I've had an Acer VG270P monitor for over 2 years, and it has given me a lot of trouble with the Intel Arc A770, first of all, if the monitor is connected over DisplayPort (DP 1.2 limited by the Monitor's port), when the monitor is on standby the backlight turns on periodically and then turns off, this happens over and over and over unless it turn off the monitor completeley or use HDMI (HDMI 2.0 limited by the Monitor's port), and when using HDMI it has some issues, first, both Intel Arc and the Acer VG270P support HDR, however, while using a very high quality HDMI cable (HDMI 2.1 capable) if the monitor is at 144Hz refresh (Maximum for the Acer VG270P) and you turn on HDR, boom, no video, however if i bump it down to 120Hz, it works, something similar happens with color, the monitor supports 8bpc, 10bpc and 12bpc, but at 144Hz, only 8bpc, at 10 or 12, no video and no way to change it since i cant see anything, also, and this happened to me recently, if i do a DDU and install the latest Intel drivers, the monitor defaults to 144Hz, but also defaults to 10bpc (10 bits per color), so, no video again, before i had to use my iGPU (Intel HD 750) to try to solve the issue, using my iGPU i can run the monitor up to 120Hz, it does not let me run it at 144Hz, the option is just gone in Windows, but at 120Hz i can run 12bpc and HDR on without any issues, anyways, this time i coulnt solve the issue, i had to use Anydesk from my Laptop to change the bpc settings on Intel Graphics Software, after that i could resume using my computer since i only have this monitor. I tried multiple driver versions, from 2024 when i aquiered this monitor to today, 2026, all of the drivers in between those years. i also correctly installed the Monitor drivers and .ICM profile, but this didnt solve the problem either.

Hi Joadix100,

Thank you for contacting the Intel Community Forum. To help us investigate your issue further, please provide the following details:

  1. Have you tested different DisplayPort cables? If so, could you please specify the revision of the cables you’ve used?
  2. Have you tried using a different DP port on your Intel Arc A770 GPU to see if the issue persists? If so, does the problem happen on all ports or just one in particular?
  3. Could you please confirm the wattage of your power supply unit (PSU)?
  4. Have you tried using a different monitor with the Intel Arc A770 to check if the issue still happens?
  5. Have you tested if the issue still occurs when booting into Safe Mode in Windows?
  6. Would you be able to provide a video or photos of the issue when it occurs?
  7. Can you confirm the exact graphics driver version currently installed?
  8. Have you tried installing the latest Intel driver version, which is 32.0.101.8735?
  9. You mentioned testing multiple graphics drivers between 2024 and 2026. If you remember, could you please provide the specific driver versions where the issue occurs?
  10. If you're not sure of all the versions, could you at least mention any specific drivers where you noticed the issue happening consistently?
  11. Did the issue occur with all driver versions you tested, or did it seem to be tied to certain versions?
  12. Could you confirm if your Intel Arc A770 is the 8GB variant or the 16GB variant? Also, is your A770 an Intel-branded card, or is it a third-party model (such as from ASUS, Gigabyte, etc.)?
  13. Please run the Intel System Support Utility (SSU) and attach the report for system diagnostics:
    • Download link: Intel SSU Tool
    • After downloading, open the tool, run a scan (leave default options), click Next, then save the results as a .txt file, and attach it in your reply.
      • Please note: While generating the SSU report, kindly uncheck the “Networking” option.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best Regards,

Acer Nitro VG270P

  • 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 HBR2
  • 2 x HDMI 1.4
  • 1920 x 1080 @ 144 Hz

To analyze the monitor's behavior, please generate the SSU report requested by @IntelSupport.

Ideally, please generate the report twice: once while the monitor is connected via DisplayPort, and once via HDMI.

The report will contain the data that the monitor sends to the graphics driver, which will answer the following questions:

  • What color depth does the monitor actually support? This is also crucial for HDR performance (via HDMI).
  • What video timing is being used by the monitor? This will help explain what bandwidth is actually available via HDMI.
