"Skate." makes my system crash at random

At random intervals my system will completely hang and I have to press the force restart button which is very upsetting almost every time I want to play the game. However, sometimes (like 1% of the time) it'll freeze for a few seconds then unfreeze then prompt with a message box relating to DirectX, here is the Message Box I'm talking about:

Romlol_0-1760470805665.png

But a lot more often than not, it's a whole system hold up that requires restarting my whole PC.

Here are the specs of my Desktop:

-OS: Windows 10 (Version: 22H2, OS Build: 19045.6396)
-Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz
-Memory: Installed RAM 32,0 GB (31,9 GB usable)
-Graphics: Graphics Card Intel(R) Arc(TM) A770 Graphics (16 GB)

All drivers/software are up to date.

Like @Terry94 said in his own post (that didn't go anywhere because you guys said it was because he didn't have a dedicated GPU) it seems to crash more often in challenges/missions around this area:

Hello Romlol,

Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.

For me to better understand and diagnose the issue further, let me ask you to provide detailed responses to the following questions. This information will help me isolate the problem and determine the most appropriate course of action moving forward.

  1. Was it working fine before?
  2. If yes, what was the last change in the system before the issue started?
  3. What is your game launcher?
  4. Please provide the screenshot of the Graphics settings of the game.
  5. Can you share a video of the issue for me to check if I can replicate it in our lab?
  6. Kindly help generate the dump files for me to check. For the steps, kindly refer to this link and scroll down to Crashing issues: Need help? Reporting a bug or issue with Arc GPU? - PLEASE READ THIS FIRST! - Intel Community
  7. For me to review the hardware and the installed driver, please help generate the SSU logs of your system. Kindly refer to the link below for the steps:

  1. Was it working fine before?

No the game has always done this since I played it.

  2. If yes, what was the last change in the system before the issue started?

    I installed the game.

  3. What is your game launcher?

    Steam

  4. Please provide the screenshot of the Graphics settings of the game.

  5. Can you share a video of the issue for me to check if I can replicate it in our lab?

Here is a video of the game crashing, but I couldn't make a video of the whole PC crashing because the video just gets corrupted.

I don't know if this is coincidence or not but when trying to take a video of my PC crashing I only got the game crashing until I tried it again but with me in a Discord call (not even with other people just alone in a call) and in the middle of the first mission I launched it made my whole PC crash instead of just the game.
So it may make my whole PC crash because of the Discord overlay.
Never mind I disabled the overlay and tried again and my whole PC still crashed.

  6. Kindly help generate the dump files for me to check. For the steps, kindly refer to this link and scroll down to Crashing issues: Need help? Reporting a bug or issue with Arc GPU? - PLEASE READ THIS FIRST! - Intel Community

I did it and had multiple whole PC crashes and I didn't see any new dump files in any of the folders.
I also did it until I had a simple game crash and the only got a App-specific dump (nothing new in any of the other folders) named "minidump-2025_10_15_23_15_41.dmp".

  7. For me to review the hardware and the installed driver, please help generate the SSU logs of your system. Kindly refer to the link below for the steps: How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

The SSU logs are in the attachments.

Hello Romlol,

Thank you for the update.

Kindly try to reinstall the latest driver using DDU method and update me there will be changes. If still the same, I will also try this issue in our lab. Please refer to the link below for the steps on how to perform DDU.

I reinstalled the latest driver using the DDU method and it still made my whole PC crash.

But then again I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but apparently there was a problem with discord regarding the overlay (you couldn't disable the overlay) I thought I disabled it but I saw (after the whole PC crash) that the overlay was still on, so after seeing it I truly disabled the overlay this time and tried playing the game again and this time only the game crashed not my whole PC.
I only tried it once so it could be a coincidence.

If you need anything else from me then feel free to ask!

More than likely a coincidence cause my discord overlay has never been enabled and I've been having this issue since the game came out, as you know.

Hello Romlol,

Thank you for patiently waiting for our update.

I want to update you that we are now simulating the issue in our lab.

As for my recommendation, please try the following:

Please try the latest driver 32.0.101.8247. If the issue still persists, please also to test the oldest available driver 32.0.101.6874. make sure that Clean Installation is performed on each installation.

Once done and if you are still having the same issue. Please generate a new set of SSU logs and update me on this thread.

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

I tried with the latest driver's and it still made my PC crash, so I installed the oldest available driver (32.0.101.6874) and it couldn't even launch the game.
Here is the error I got:

Romlol_3-1761666610545.png

So I reinstalled the latest driver but had a bug (the GPU wasn't in task manager and it only registered my main monitor) so I reinstalled again ("repaired") and now everything is back to normal.

The new SSU logs are in the attachments.

If you need anything else from me then feel free to ask!

Hello Romlol,

Thank you for patiently waiting for our update.

We understand you are using a laptop with an Intel A770 GPU configured as an external GPU (eGPU). While this setup is not officially supported by Intel, similar feedback has been received from customers using desktop PCs. Based on this, we do not believe the eGPU configuration is the root cause of the game crashing issue you are experiencing.

Please note that eGPU setups may not always provide full functionality or optimal performance, and some compatibility issues can occur.

Additionally, the game "Skate." is currently in its early access phase, meaning it is still under development and optimization. We have seen many reports of similar crashes, including cases involving GPUs from other vendors and even on gaming consoles. This suggests that the issue may originate from the game itself rather than the hardware configuration. Here are the links:

https://forums.ea.com/discussions/skate-en/the-game-keeps-crashing/12716194

We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to keep an eye on game updates for improvements.

It is also best to contact the Game developer for further checking of the issue.

Thank you and have a great day.

Alright, thanks for at least trying.

Just to clarify — I'm on a desktop, not a laptop with an external GPU.

As for your first link:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Skate4/comments/1lr74i4/skate_playtest_constantly_crashing_pc/, it's not the same bug I’m experiencing. Like I said at the start, my system completely hangs and I have to press the force restart button. It doesn't just turn off my entire system like theirs — it basically freezes, and I can’t do anything until I manually restart my PC (using the physical power or restart button).

As for the two other links you sent, in their cases, only the game crashes — their consoles/PCs don't hang or freeze.
