Any ideas how and what to buy to cure this problem on my sons computer ? I know nothing about them as you can tell. Thanks.

You've run out of space on your system drive. You need to replace the system drive with a bigger one or add a second drive. Many stores offer help (free or for nominal cost) in doing this kind of upgrade.
Now, I have to say, you've got a 13 year old computer system. It is about time to upgrade to something newer.
