I've recently recompiled my mixed FORTRAN/C code and it run great as long as I use the "Release" version. After I recompile with the "Debug" version, I cannot start-up the debugger. The code apparantly builds properly (i.e. I received a 'Successful build' message and manifest data, as usual, and I receive an executable code. But, when I go to the top menu in MVS2008 under the "Debug" tab, the "Start Debug F5" line is grayed out, and, I cannot do anything.
When I click on the newly created executable code (outside of MVS2008) I get the following message: "Entry point not found" - The procedure entry point mkl_serv_get_max_threads could not be located in the dynamic link library mkl_sequential.dll." I'm not quite sure what to make of this message???
This code, with this debugger (i.e. same MVS2008 and FORTRAN and C) has worked properly in the past, I believe that I've checked or un-checked some box somewhere in the project settings in MVS2008.
Can someone give me a hint as to where to start looking?
Thanks, Bob

Have you added the path to the current MKL "redist" folder containing the MKL DLLs to your system PATH environment variable? As of the 2013 release, that is no longer done automatically by the install. It could be that PATH is pointing to an old version of MKL.
The debug button being grayed out suggests to me that VS thinks the target executable did not build. What do you have under Project > Properties > Debugging > Command, and Project > Properties > Linker> General > Output File?

Steve,
Thx for your ideas. I've definitely got some kind of path issue. I checked the item you listed above. The target executable file did not build. In fact, at this point-in-time II cannot even initiate a compile command. While inside MVS2008 I open one of my fortran source code files, and change one character. When I try to build, it gives me the message that the project is up-to-date. When I click on the "Build" tab I do not see a "Compile F7" tab at the bottom. It is as if my FORTRAN compiler isn't there.
My solution consists of 2 projects, one contains all FORTRAN source code, and the other contains all the C code. The C code project compiles, and builds properly, but, the FORTRAN project always says up-to-date.
I've checked the "Solution Dependancies". They look okay. Any ideas what I can check next? I'm totally baffled. This all worked fine a couple of days ago. I must have checked or un-checked some box somewhere in MSV2008.

Steve - I got the "No compile" problem fixed. I found and read your article "Problem: Fortran source files not compiled when building in Visual Studio". Pressing the reset button fixed it. Thx. Now I can work on the path issues.
