There used to be a table of compiler options showing what was default and the equivalent option on the mac and Linux platforms. This does not seem to be available in the new documentation. (The new options are there as are the deprecated options) -- in somewhat tabular format.

Am I just missing the overview table?

Sorry - that part of the documentation was removed. You can see the equivalents in the descriptions of the individual options.

Any chance it will be returned? It was a nice overview for people who develop on multiple platforms with multiple people doing the final compiles.

It wil be excruciating to go through them one by one.

Plus, it presents it in "row" form and not columnar.

Impossible to get a real overview easily.

The compiler team has declined this request. The Quick Reference and Cross Reference Guides will not be restored to the documentation.

That's really too bad. Especially for those of us who direct cross-platform developments. It really can't be that difficult (though not something I want to take on each release).

Let me guess - the Linux/Mac doesn't want to write about Windows options and the Windows team doesn't want to write about Linux/Mac options.... (or so it would seem).

Over on the AVX forum there is a utility that you can down load which lists the intrinsic functions complete with check boxes for processor generation and functionality. (They should do this for the compete IA32/Intel64 instruction set.) Suggest to your teams to get together to produce a similar tool that you can use to qualify the options of interest (via filter check boxes)including check box filterfor all or each O/S.

The time they spend will be recovered 1000 fold in the time we spend scrolling through a text dump of the options.

We don't have OS-specific teams. It's a resource issue and maintaining these documents were considered lower priority. The information on equivalents is in the existing compiler options manual, not just in a single place. Each option description lists the OS-specific equivalents, if any, and the defaults.

Of course, it's a resource issue -- our question is whether it's the product team or us that has to spend the extra time.

The team has to spend time updating each manual. Why not add the extra three minutes and put the same updates in to the table for the cross platform options.

There's an old adage - if something is specified in two places, it's probably wrong in at least one of them. I sympathize, and lobbied to keep the table, but it lost to other priorities.

That would imply it will be wrong in at least one of the manual changes, too, Steve.

I understand the issue just not happy with it and don't have my own resources to create tables for other people's products.
