I know it's not your decision, but every time Intel or Compaq changed the Forum software (and those were some 4 major and a dozen minor "upgrades") we encountered brand new collections of bugs; while the current software is far from perfect, at least I learned to live with its quirks.
Oh well, time to get used to a new subset of quirks. Life goes on...

- User interface is somewhat sluggish, but generally acceptable. It takes quite a long time after this (compose) page becomes operable.
- Layout of "My profile" page is broken in Firefox, although it's OK in IE
- I don't see the place for "My signature" in My profile? Conversely, it's lost from all my previous messages (I used to type it manually before, but lost the habit in the meanwhile)
- How can I get rid of this ugly Times New Roman while composing the message (it is not in the list of my browser's default fonts)?
- I dare not look if old attachments still stick... ("Insert Smiley" dropdown doesn't work, btw :-) )
- "Pre/Code" button could be explicitly put on the toolbar instead of being hidden under "Preformatted" entry of "Paragraph" dropdown (which causes odd spacing of this list, btw)
...also:
- Navigation could be bit better; the link to IVF Forum is tiny on the top of the page, and I didn't find a way to easily get out of "My profile" other than hitting "Back" several times
- The view of the messages is too narrow, and looks optimized for 800x600.

I posted this in the welcome thread, but am repeating it here in case it was not seen...
The new forum software gives me a large blank right hand section of screen that could be used to expand the post into,so the posted textoccupies only about half the space available for it and forces the use of a horizontal scroll bar when it should not be necessary. Here is a screen shot of my display. I use IE6.
....umm, I am still looking for the attachment button or option!!. I will try a paste...
No, that doesn't work either...what to do?
(I posted any way and tried an Edit, hoping an attachment button would appear, but no luck.
Plus, how do I cancel an edit?
Plus, 'Reply' when not logged in leads you back to the Intel home page, forcing one to navigate back to the Fortran forum..

Argh.
1. Great difficulty (i.e. impossible) getting logged on with my existing account (garyscott). The system forces completion of a profile, yet all fields are defautled to uneditable. I could not get around that. Any time it prefilled top sections with my existing info, all fields except the promo code were uneditable (both IE 6 and NS 7.1). Had to create a new account.
2. Recommend change the background of the "sticky" messages to separate those from the "non-sticky" ones.

In short, it would appear that the developers of this software
a) Have Portrait-format VDU screens, OR
b) Have normal screens with Post-it notes covering the right hand half, AND
c) Dont get out enough to know about other browsers besides IE, AND
d) Do not want you cluttering up the boards with attachments OR to post source code.

The wasted whitespace is due to the corporate "C-clamp" design - content is not allowed to extend past the end of the header and footer elements.
