Steve,

Any hints about the new parallel tools as reported hereand whether they will become available for Fortran?

Regards, David

I was wondering when someone would ask that. Other than Threading Building Blocks, which is C++ specific, most of what was announced for Intel Parallel Studio will be available for Fortran at a later date. In many ways, what was announced today is a "slimmed down" edition of existing tools or tools under development (Intel Parallel Advisor), aimed at what is termed a "mainstream" audience in an attempt to capture the attention of the large mass of Visual C++ users. Fortran users (and more advanced C++ users) will see more advanced tools.

Don't get me wrong - there is a lot of neat stuff going on here, with the goal of increasing the number of developers who build parallelism into their applications. For a lot of these developers, who have tried to NOT think about parallelism, this is a way to get their feet wet.
