History of Programming

Colleagues,

Three weeks ago, the Computing History Museum posted a series of videos on UTube: recordings of sessions at a meeting held in 1976 on the history of computing.

The First International Research Conference on the History of Computing

Many of the presentations are actually on the history of programming. Much of it is very interesting.  Speakers were from all over the world -- industry programmers and academics.

I had been programming FORTRAN (as it was, back then) for 10 years by the time this retrospective  meeting was held. At the time, my understanding of programming history was limited to knowing of Grace Hopper and what she had accomplished.

The videos are here: https://www.youtube.com/user/ComputerHistory/videos
